32 RESTO OF THE WEEK maltatoday, SUNDAY, 24 AUGUST 2014 SPENDING the entire day on the beach in the heat of the summer is just too much – too hot and too tiring. But that depends entirely on which beach you choose to spend your day. At Medasia playa a day at the beach is anything but tiring. The stylish beach club offers more than just access to the sea ¬ there is also the chance to pamper your- self to the max. The Sliema beach lido is split into different levels with the shady restaurant above the chic sun beds and umbrellas surrounding the turquoise waters of the pool. Just a few steps below there is access to the sparkling waters of the Medi- terranean. Start your day with a swim and then make your way up the stairs for a cocktail by the bar before you settle down for lunch. Nothing is as refreshing as a minty mojito but why not try some with a twist – a champagne mojito topped with champagne instead of soda brings extra class to the traditional rum based cocktail, or substitute the lime for strawberry or orange. Medasia established itself as the place to be over the winter serving Asian fusion cuisine and cock- tails in an atmosphere worthy of the most discerning clients. Now they've taken that concept to the beach – same cocktails, same deli- cious menu only making the most of island life by the sea. Go for the Asian favourites – a great selection of sushi, hand- rolled by Japanese chefs, Peking duck pancakes or a range of satays, spring rolls and all the fried bits and bites that are associated with Asian food. If that is not to your taste go for the European part of the fusion menu with fresh fish caught daily or great pasta dishes, meat and burgers from a specials menu that changes regularly. Once you've had your meal head back down to the beach or take a break from the busy day and reha- bilitate and rejuvenate with mas- seur Martin Tsanev. Go for the full deal with a full body massage tak- ing up a whole hour or take just 15 minutes out of your day to remove the kinks of the stressful week, or sign up for a sunset yoga class. By night Medasia Playa is trans- formed into a place for decadence and fun. Enjoy the cocktails and food along with great music and great company. Wednesday night is Sahara night, with belly dancers and fire dancers providing enter- tainment to while the night away. Medasia Playa is open Monday to Sunday from 9am to 4am WINE OF THE WEEK Medasia Restaurant Qui-si-sana, Sliema Contact: 21323126 Email: info@medasia.com.mt Web: www.medasia.com.mt Rachel Zammit Cutajar takes a look at a restaurant and brings a recipe, wine and delicacy of the week.
