Keynote speakers include Mgr Alejandro Cifres Gimenez, Director of the Inquisition Archives at the Vatican, and renowned expert Professor Andrea del Col. The conference will be accompanied by a temporary exhibition on the Inquisition in Malta which will run till 11 January 2015. Amongst other artefacts this exhibition will include authentic documents from the Vatican Archives, the Cathedral Archives, and the National Library. SEPTEMBER 26, 27 Il-Kennies tal-Genna Original play penned by Tony Cassar Darien at Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta. Directed by Josette Ciappara. SEPTEMBER 27, 28 Zejt iz-Zejtun Event celebrating the olive picking season and olive pressing for oil in Żejtun – starting on September 27 at 19:30 with a defile. An exhibition of agricultural tools, agricultural products and folk art will deck the village in traditional attire that will come alive in a celebration of colour, music, movement and food. Pride of place will, of course, be given to the olive tree. Maltese ftajjar and bread dressed in freshly pressed olive oil will be distributed for free tasting. SEPTEMBER 27-29 Bormla: Community & Heritage Showcase Showcase of Bormla's history and heritage at Bormla Square, from 09:30 to 22:30. Featuring guided tours and talks. Organised by Bir Mula Heritage (Museum), Malta Tourism Society, the Institute for Tourism, Travel and Culture (University of Malta), and the Malta Union of Tourist Guides. Featuring Hedon DJs playing a nostalgic selection of 90s tracks, as well as live acts. Entrance is at €5 and strictly by school-themed dress code. Doors open at 22:00. VISUAL ARTS UNTIL SEPTEMBER 26 Ex Voto – Art exhibition Exhibition of works by Ryan Falzon WHAT'S ON Qatt Ma Ninsa – Birgu Immersive theatre production in Birgu, inspired by the 'Qatt ma Ninsa' research initiative organised by the Valletta 2018 Foundation. Held around various venues in Birgu and featuring performers from the Teatru Manoel Youth Theatre (TMYT), under the artistic direction of Christopher Gatt, in collaboration with Heritage Malta, the Birgu Local Council and the Birgu community. Maritime Senglea International Festival Sixth edition of the cultural festival at Senglea, which will this year be part of a EU- funded project under Network of Twinned Partners 'Revival of Old Towns and Cities'. Consisiting of workshops with international entities, panel discussions, an arts fair; concluding with a day of fishing competitions and 'Il-Gostra'. For more information log on to: http://www.maritimesenglea. com/. The Hellre Triathlon & Relay The Hellfire Triathlon and Relay will be held at Majjistral Park in Golden Bay on Sunday at 08:00. The route is spectacular, with the 1km swim in the blue seas of Golden Bay, followed by a 20km mountain bike cycle through the Majjistral Nature Reserve and an 11km trail run around the Gnejna plateau.
