will still experience the full impact of the production, as rather than a literal adaptation of
Dante's work, Divina will attempt to get at the "emotions and the state of being" behind the
poem.
Bolstered by the fact that this particular production comes with all-original music as well
as participation by foreign dancers, Tabone does not exclude the possibility that Divina
could also be performed overseas in the future.
The production is set to be the troupe's most ambitious yet. Founded in 2004, Naupaca have
previously adapted Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass,
with 'Alice's Adventures Underground' (2012) and given their own spin on Snow White with
2012's The Death of Snow White – apparently hitting on some kind of zeitgeist, given that
two Hollywood productions based on the fairy tale came out that same year.
Divina will open its doors on the 18 October at the Mediterranean Conference Centre with
a repeat performance on the 24 October at the Aurora Theatre Opera House in Victoria.
Early bird discounts are available till the 28 September.
