22 maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 8 OCTOBER 2014 MOTORSPORTS TABLE FOOTBALL Sport ASMK Pasta Poiatti 2014/15 season starts next Sunday "ASSOCJAZZJONI Sport Muturi u Karozzi" (ASMK) and Pasta Poi- atti National Championships will start next Sunday 12th October. The first race will be an Enduro Race for all Maltese riders and taking place at Faw wara quarry thanks to its owners. The new range of Champion- ships are to include six Enduro races and eight Trials Events. All these races will be held outside the ASMK Motorsport Complex at Ta Qali. The Motocross Cham- pionship will be based on seven events while some riders will be competing in the FMI-Sicily Re- gional Championship too. The Autocross Championship will be based on 12 events which will be run on 3 different track layouts and directions. A new Standard Class is to be intro- duced for novices and beginners to Autocross racing. Sunday's 12th October Enduro race will be run at Faw wara on a temporary track laid by team leader Eddie Bonello and his help- ers. Registration for all starts at 9.00am and First Practice Race starts at 10.00am. The three (3) Classes will be set for Under 250cc bikes, for over 250cc and another class for Trials bikers too. In the meantime, a Team of 3 ASMK Motocross riders were competing in the 5th event of the FMI-Sicilia Regional Champion- ship. This event was held at Hi- Fly MX arena in the province of Syracuse. Clayton Camilleri on a 250cc KTM and Edward Ciantar on a 250cc Kawasaki are compet- ing in the Over 21 Class among a minimum of 8 other top national riders. In this race Clayton won 3rd place with equal points with another Sicilian competitor. Due to Standing Rules Clayton is placed 4th Overall while Edward Ciantar is placed 5th in the same class. This race was the 2nd event of competition abroad in an FMI Championship. This event at Hi- Fly circuit was run on a 1.214km long circuit and each race lasts about 20 mins. Claytons best time was that of 20.823 seconds which compares very well to the win- ner's best time of 18.603 secs. Paul Noel Muscat riding a 250cc KTM won the 'Masters Veteran' Class with his best time of 24.149 secs. Muscat finished 1st in Class in the Qualif ying and in the 2nd Race while he finish in 2nd place in his 1st Race. These results are very good results when compar- ing our local limitations and facil- ities too. These Motocross Riders will be competing again in Noto at Gino Meli Circuit in two weeks time. We wish them the best of luck too. On Sunday 19th October ASMK will launch the 1st Autocross Races stating at noon. All the competing cars will be inspected for safety levels and conformity with the ASMK Autocross Regu- lations which are mainly based on British Autocross standards. The Trials section will be perform- ing on the same day at a Naxxar Quarry. More information can be found in the Official website: w w w.asmk.org.mt Edward Ciantar Clayton Camilleri Valletta Lions Table Football Club win first International Open Tournament Samuel Bartolo wins the Open Tournament THIS weekend the Malta Table Football Sports Association organ- ised its 1st International Tourna- ment for this season which was held at the 12th May Band Club in Zeb- bug, Malta. On Saturday, in the Teams event Valletta Lions Table Football Club, founded in 2013, won their first In- ternational tournament by beating their sporting rivals from the capi- tal city Valletta Subbuteo Club 3-1 in the final. In the group stages, Valletta Lions Table Football Club won its group by obtaining maximum points. In the semi-finals, they won against Attard Subbuteo Club with a 4-0 score line. Valletta Subbuteo Club also won their group with maxi- mum points and in the semi final they drew 2-2 with Bormla Sub- buteo Club but progressed to the final on a better goal difference. On Sunday, the Individual tourna- ment was held with Samuel Bartolo winning the title against Mark Gau- ci with a score of 4-2. Both players progressed from the semi-finals by beating club mates Derek Conti and Angelo Borg 4-3 and 3-1 respec- tively. In the Under 19 category, Andrew Abela won the group with maxi- mum points with Tristan Fenech finishing in the second place. Both players hail from Valletta Subbuteo Club. The other three players who participated form part of Valletta Lions Table Football Club team. These were Melvin Barun, Neil Mark Bonnici and Lyon Baldacchi- no, who finished in 3rd, 4th and 5th place respectively, In the Under 15 category, Jurgen Balzan finished top of the table with seven points, winning the fi- nal game against Andrew Deguara 1-0 who finished second place with six points.
