Chris Cardona, together with Ray Abela, E-BIZ Mentor, and Antho- ny P. Tabone, CEO of SmartCity Malta, launched the educational project, E-Biz at SmartCity Malta. E-Biz is one of the next community training projects aimed for SMEs, self-employed, family-run busi- nesses and students with the pros- pect of business management. E-Biz courses will focus on six pillars of the Maltese e-economy and the needs for businesses to evolve in today's modern digital age. Topics will include: e-com- merce, e-marketing, e-government services, applications for SMEs, excel spreadsheets and outlook as business tools, as well as effec- tive English for business, and soft skills. The course is free of charge and will be held at various E-Biz regional training centres around Malta and Gozo, including Smart- City Malta. At the end of the E-Biz course in May, 2015, students will sit for a ba- sic multiple choice test via an online e-learning platform where they will receive the results straightaway. Following successful completion of the course, an E-Biz certificate will also be awarded to all participants. Speaking during the E-Biz launch, Anthony P. Tabone, CEO of Smart- City Malta discussed the relevance of the knowledge industry in today's economy. Supported by HSBC Malta, the TransLog Awards 2014 is aimed to create awareness and enhancement of the transport, logistics and supply chain industry in Malta, and seeks to recognise the efforts and investments in this industry done by the different stakeholders operating in Malta. Competing in twelve different cat- egories, the finalists in alphabetical order are as follows: Best Express Courier of the Year: Gozo Express and MaltaPost; Best Freight Forward of the Year: B.A.S , Express Trailers and Falcotrans; Best Warehouse Facili- ties of the Year: Express Trailers; Best Cargo Operator of the Year: Emirates SkyCargo and Express Trailers; Best Shipping Agent of the Year: Sullivan Maritime; Best Importer/Exporter with Emerging Markets of the Year: Aurobindo, Avifilm Export, Freight- Zone, and New Energy; Best Tech- nology Solution Provider of the Year: Cyberpass, Emirates SkyCargo, and HandsOn; Corporate Social Respon- sibility of the Year: Emirates SkyCar- go, Express Trailers, Liquigas Malta, MaltaPost; Logistics and Supply Chain Managers of the Year: Arkadia, Lufthansa Technik, and VJ Salomone Marketing; Transport Manager of the Year: e-Cabs and Falcotrans.
