Events 49 maltatoday, Sunday, 30 november 2014 Emirates and Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Market- ing (DTCM) launched a new global campaign that celebrates different facets of Dubai. Across print, broad- cast and outdoor media, the "See you in Dubai" campaign will high- light the unexpected experiences that Dubai has to offer, as well as the familiar, conveying the spirit of this exciting global city that is always evolving. While most visitors are familiar with Dubai's iconic landmarks such as the Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall, the emirate provides many more attractions and experiences – ranging from a host of desert activities, to beautiful beach- es and a wealth of water sports, to a growing arts and culture scene, and amazing cuisines that span the globe. The campaign also challenges tra- ditional preconceptions of Dubai and shows how modern meets tra- ditional. For instance, one creative shows a simple fish shack serving fresh 'catch of the day' against the beautiful backdrop of the Burj Al Arab – an unusual contrast between a top end resort and a basic dining option which can be found on one of Dubai's pristine beaches. The shack, called Bu Qtair, was featured in celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain's Travel Channel programme No Res- ervations, as a culinary find. It was originally part of a fishing village on the seafront. Another example of a great juxta- position is a traditional Arabic dhow cruise featured in the stunning and ultra-modern Dubai Marina. Dhows are very much a part of Dubai's trad- ing roots and some of these still ply the Dubai Creek carrying goods to and from India, Iran and neighbour- ing ports like Muscat and Bahrain. The US$20 million "See you in Dubai" campaign, one of Emirates' largest to date, is created in partner- ship with DTCM to reach audiences across the globe, focusing particu- larly on particular markets with Eu- rope being one of them. "Dubai is a global hub and a global destination in itself. From Emirates' perspective, it is our unique differen- tiator. Our mission has always been to connect the Dubai to the world, and connect the world through Du- bai," said HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group. "Our dynamic home city is de- veloping apace, in line with HH Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Vision 2020. Whether they're new arrivals or they've been before, visitors to Dubai will always discover something new to enjoy and share in the emirate. "Last year, Dubai welcomed more than 11 million visitors and our aim is to continue to grow these numbers by constantly enhancing every aspect of Dubai's destina- tion offering, making our city the top choice for all types of travellers from across the globe. Emirates and DTCM both continually showcase Dubai through every possible touch point – whether at international and industry events, sponsorships or through marketing campaigns. We believe our new campaign will contribute to enhancing Dubai's ap- peal to even more visitors across the globe." Dubai's success as a destination has been the result of many invest- ments in its tourism infrastructure, with Emirates and aviation playing a critical role in this equation. Aside from providing essential air links for tourism and trade, Emir- ates is also a staunch supporter of world-class events in Dubai that attract global attention and attend- ance including: The Emirates Air- line Dubai Rugby 7s, The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, and the Dubai International Film Festi- val, to name a few. Emirates operates a daily sched- uled flight between Malta and Du- bai via Larnaka, Cyprus. Heritage Malta and The Farsons Foundation together with Simonds Farsons Cisk plc are cementing their relationship by officially formalising their collaboration for the collective benefit of Malta's cultural and indus- trial heritage. The parties involved have agreed to co-operate and work closely in the set-up process and on- going operation of the proposed Far- sons Visitors' Centre. The three-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Heritage Malta Chairman Dr Joseph Buttigieg, The Farsons Foundation Chairman Mr Bryan A. Gera, and Simonds Farsons Cisk Chairman Mr Louis A. Farrugia. The agreement underlines the commitment taken by both parties and covers various aspects including support in the planning and design stages of the Farsons Visitor's Cen- tre, guidance on the collection, con- servation and presentation of exhib- its, and the facilitation of European and international networks related to industrial heritage. Dr Buttigieg said: "Heritage Malta applauds this initiative undertaken by The Farsons Foundation and Simonds Farsons Cisk to collect, protect and make these elements of industrial heritage accessible to the benefit of Maltese society." "Our agreement with Heritage Malta will support the state-of-the- art development of the Visitors' Centre envisioned by Farsons while providing conservation, manage- ment and restoration of industrial heritage," said Mr Gera. This is the second MoU embarked by The Farsons Foundation and Si- monds Farsons Cisk plc. Earlier this year an agreement was ratified with the University of Malta with the aim of intensifying the collaboration by supporting of a number of grants, the institution of prizes and the ex- change of technical assistance. The months long process leading to this collaboration included a one-day conference in 2013 which focused on the diverse approaches in the preser- vation and presentation of industrial heritage in Malta, and the publica- tion of the conference proceedings in a book entitled Approaches to In- dustrial Heritage: What works?. Mr Louis A. Farrugia, Chairman Simonds Farsons Cisk plc highlight- ed the significance of this agree- ment. He said: "Our collaboration with Heritage Malta has extended over a number of years and now that we are at the threshold of ushering a new phase in our plans which will eventually lead to a Visitor's Centre at Farsons we are pleased to formal- ise this collaboration." Smiles all round as the Banif family met at St. George's Square after the resoundingly successful sixth edi- tion of the President's Solidarity Fun Run. Applications flowed into all twelve of the Bank's branches in the run-up to the event and several staff mem- bers pitched in on the day to help make the event possible. Another year, another emphatic display of solidarity. Well done to all involved! One of the secrets of N°5 lies in the se- lection of exceptional raw materials. It retains all the mystery of an abstract fragrance in which no identifiable dom- inant note stands out from the eighty ingredients used in its composition. A radical change that Jacques Polge, Creator of Chanel Fragrances, de- scribes as an olfactory symphony that blends notes of Ylang Ylang, Grasse Jasmine and May Rose, enhanced by Aldehydes like a perfect accord. 'A woman's fragrance that smells like a woman,' as Mademoiselle liked to say. The art of perfuming Over time, N°5 has continued to instill elegance and sensuality in the women who wear it. Just for them, Chanel pro- longs the trail of this legendary fra- grance with three new toiletries for the holiday season; three special moments for the bath, the body and the senses. The N°5 Bath Soap The bath soap trades its rounded square shape for a new, curvaceous line that is exquisitely sensual and feminine. In contact with water, its light lather subtly diffuses the fragrance, leaving the skin soft and delicately scented for a bath like a soft, enveloping cocoon. The N°5 Body Cream An object of desire with an iconic de- sign, the N°5 Body Cream boasts a rich and creamy texture that moisturizes and softens the skin, leaving it delicately scented for a genuine moment of pam- pering. The N°5 Loose Powder The loose powder has an appealing fine and airy texture. Incredibly sensual, it caresses the entire body, leaving the skin soft, deli- cately powdered and subtly scented. The finishing touch to enhance the trail of scent. See you in Dubai!
