Events 29 maltatoday, Sunday, 21 december 2014 MSV Life launches an online tool for forecasting your State Pension MSV Life has launched an interac- tive retirement planning tool on its website. Stuart Fairbairn, Chief Officer Business Development at MSV Life, explained, "Following the publica- tion of our popular Simple Guide to Pensions we are delighted to offer an interactive tool via our website to help people understand their retire- ment planning better. The tool provides an accurate cal- culation of how much State Pension you will receive and when you will receive it, based on the current rules. It takes into consideration your sal- ary, the number of years worked to date and your age. Fairbairn commented, "This is extremely important information since everyone needs to know what the Government will provide for them in retirement. The calcula- tions can be quite complex but in providing this online tool everyone can see what their pension will be just by answering 4 simple ques- tions." But the tool doesn't just stop there. It enables you to plan what income you would like to receive in retire- ment and then calculates how much you will need to save today in order to make up for any shortfall between the State Pension and what you will need. If you have existing savings set aside for retirement, then the calculator can take these into con- sideration and will show you the dif- ference they will make. You can also play around with the amounts you save in order to see how this will af- fect your income in retirement. "Some of the figures might shock people", Fairbairn warned, "howev- er it is important that we are realis- tic about our futures. State Pensions are becoming less affordable and we have to take responsibility for our futures and those of our children. We are all living longer and it is very possible that our savings will have to provide us with an income in re- tirement for at least 25 years. That's a sobering thought when most of us will have only actually worked for 40 years!" Honda Jazz triumphs in Women's World Car of the Year Awards 2014 Honda's ever-popular Jazz super-mini has tri- umphed at the recent Women's World Car of the Year Awards, beat- ing the Kia Soul to the post to win the Budget Car Category. Judged by a panel of prolific female journal- ists from 15 countries, including nine based in Europe, the awards considered ten different criteria including design and function, style and appeal, comfort, stor- age, and drive quality. Additionally, specific to these awards, other elements considered by the judging panel included the 'wow' factor, sex ap- peal and value for money; factors which all of the judges felt to be important to female car buyers. Now in their fifth year, the awards, organ- ised by New Zealand's Women's World maga- zine, recognise the best cars in six categories including best family car, sports car, luxury car, SUV, green car and budget car. Sandy Myhre, CEO and founder of the Women's World Car of the Year comments: "Honda can be very proud of this achieve- ment. It is very diffi- cult for any car to be on our shortlist, women motoring writers are very discern- ing and to win a category is a sig- nificant accolade."
