JANUARY 9, 10 The Twilight Sad Critically acclaimed Scottish rock band e Twilight Sad will be playing two gigs at St James Cavalier, Valletta at 20:30. ey will be supported by Maltese singer-songwriter YEWS and e Clandestines. e band arrive as part of an extensive tour in promotion for their fourth album called 'Nobody wants to be here and Nobody wants to leave', which will be released on the 28th October. In collaboration with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, the show will be incorporating a 40-piece orchestra, live signers and cinematography. Featuring music composed by Reuben Pace, the MPO will be led by Marcelline Agius. e script by Malcolm Galea will be narrated by Alan Paris, with visuals by Vince Briffa and the team from the Department of Visual Arts. JANUARY 15- FEBRUARY 15 Flying Sculptures by Elka Duo Elka, a French-Belgian duo formed by Elodie Laurent and Stéphane Kiszak, are exhibiting their 'Flying Sculptures' at the St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity's Upper Galleries. e sculptures, which are crafted from small lightweight materials, reconfigure our understanding of ecology and travel, while also allowing us to reflect on the concepts of sculpture and photography. UNTIL JANUARY 27 Dolores Lungaro Mifsud at Villa Bologna Ceramist Dolores Lungaro Mifsud will be showing her work at Villa Bologna, Attard. Lungaro will be exhibiting a selection of her sculptures in the Villa Bologna gift shop and will be onsite twice a week, including Saturdays, creating new sculptures. UNTIL JANUARY 31 Three Artists Amongst the Gods Exhibition of mixed media art at the Old University Campus, St Paul's Street, Valletta. Featuring work by Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci (painting and mixed media), Sina Farrugia (drawings and ceramics) and Anthony Catania (video projection). Organised by the Departments of Classics and Archaeology and History of Art, in collaboration with the Malta Classics Association. NATURE WALK JANUARY 11 First Walk of 2015 First walk of the year at the Majjistral Nature and History Park – free for the first 10 who book at walks@majjistral.org. e walk is not more than 6km and follows the clifftop route and inland towards the restored girna. Prospective visitors are advised to wear comfortable shoes for rugged terrain. THEATRE JANUARY 17, 18 Il-Milied ta' Cupiello An Atturi Salesjani production of the Neapolitan playwright Eduardo De Filippo play at Teatru Salesjan, Sliema from 19:30. e show will be performed using a translation to Maltese by Louis Azzopardi, and will be directed by Arthur Micallef. PUBLIC TALK TODAY Lyotard and techno-science Public talk on French philosopher Jean-François Lyotard and techno- science by Chris Fenech at the University of Malta, 18:00. is session will be led by Fenech and it will be the fourth session of the Philosophy Postgraduate Reading Group. is reading group is intended for current and recent postgraduates, doctoral students and academics researching within or bordering the field of philosophy. e aim is to have a speaker to lead a session where a text of their choice is analysed, debated and critically evaluated.
