Vodafone Malta Foundation supports L-Istrina 2014 Staff of HSBC Bank Malta and their children showed that com- passion has no age-limit by rais- ing funds for WaterAid during Christmas. The tone of the event was set by a choir group from Maria Abdilla Vocal Studio who toured around HSBC Operations Centre and HSBC Business Banking Centre in Qormi, as well as the HSBC UK Contact Centre in Swatar. The group performed carol sing- ing from which €440 was collect- ed. Another €1,000 were raised from the staff children's Christ- mas party. The Bank matched these amounts and the funds will go towards the HSBC Malta Wate- rAid Ghana Project, as part of the HSBC Water Programme. The Vodafone Malta Foundation once again supported l-Istrina by donating €30,000 during the twelve- hour national fund-raising mara- thon at the Mediterranean Confer- ence Centre in Valletta. Members of Vodafone staff were also on hand to participate directly in the effort by answering the donation telephone lines. When presenting Vodafone's do- nation, Foundation Board mem- ber Jason Pavia commented "As in previous years the Vodafone Malta Foundation is proud to be support- ing l-Istrina. The Vodafone Malta Foundation believes very strongly in the importance of social solidarity within our community and today's donation is a tangible way of sup- porting the Community Chest Fund in its aim of assisting individuals and organizations that may from time to time require particular help". The Limestone Heritage got a lit- tle taste of the North Pole as Santa, Rudolph and friends came to town for Banif 's Children's Christmas party! The kids were in for a day packed with fun activities and festive cheer. Pony rides and animal pet- ting went down a treat, with plenty of 'Ooh!'s and 'Aah!'s as the park's newest inhabitants – two two- week old baby goats – were intro- duced and immediately became the centre of attention. The children were also shown a video about Malta's rich geological and quarrying history before get- ting a chance to try their hand at stone-carving. As expected, they took to the studio with loads of en- thusiasm and came up with quite a few fantastical creations. And then of course it was time for the most highly anticipated moment of all – presents! It's safe to say that every child left the par- ty with a smile on their face, eager to play with their new toys, books and gadgets as soon they got home. Well done to the Bank's Sports and Social Committee for organising the very merry festivities.
