maltatoday, SUNDAY, 18 JANUARY 2015 33 Sport FOOTBALL SPORTTODAY Goal in each half enough for Valletta EDWARD FALZON Valletta .................... 2 Zebbug Rangers ......... 0 VALLETTA scored a goal in each half to come out comfortable win- ners against bottom club Zebbug Rangers and reduce the gap to 12 points behind Hibernians, who however have a game in hand. Zebbug started with Yessous Camilleri, Jacob Borg and Kurt Zammit who replaced Melvin Far- rugia, Matthew Gauci and Carlo Monti. Valletta had Shaun Bajada missing through injury. As expected Valletta held the in- itiative from early on in the game and went close through Nafti dur- ing the early periods of the game. Nafti went close again before half time as he hit the upright from a corner kick. Bartolo then saved an effort from Elford-Alliyu. Valletta took the lead three min- utes before the break when off a pass by Barry, Nafti slotted the ball past the Zebbug keeper. In the second half it was again Valletta who went close to scor- ing, through an individual run by Elford Alliyu, with the latter's ef- fort hitting the upright. Fifteen minutes from time Val- letta sealed the issue when Elford Alliyu tapped the ball home from close range after a collective good move.
