Tarxien had their new signings making their debut against Mosta namely, Jose Angel Pereira, Manuel Acevedo and Edu Vallecillo. Owen Bugeja, Luke Zahra and Manuel Xerri were dropped to the bench to make way for the debutants. Mosta made two changes from the team which beat Qormi last weekend, with Kyle Gerada replacing the suspended Omar Borg, and Tyrone Farrugia replacing Mark Brincat. Mosta had the first opportu- nity to open the score in the sev- enth minute with Ribeiro serving Diogo Pinheiro, but the latter's low shot was saved by the Tarxien keeper. Tarxien tried to open the score themselves and went close to Menendez Hevia which hit the post. In the 27th minute a header by Ribeiro was def lected by Min- toff onto the bar with the keeper clearing the ball to safety. Mosta opened the score in the 31st minute thanks to a low drive by Mathias Ribeiro which gave Mintoff no chance. Four minutes into the second half it was Mosta keeper Gerada who came to the rescue, turning into a corner a dangerous free kick. On the other end, Ian Zammit re- leased Ribeiro whose effort was easily saved by Mintoff. One minute before the final whis- tle, Tarxien grabbed an important point when off a cross by Carlinos, Vallecillo headed the ball into the net.
