Featuring Malta Philharmonic Orchestra resident conductor Michael Laus will be directing works from three pillars of the Romantic Era. Programme includes: Wagner Rienzi Overture, Bruch Concerto for Violin and Viola and Tchaikovsky Symphony No 4. Soloists: Marcelline Agius (violin) and Nadia Debono (viola). Featuring DJs Belights, Littledread and Lu Scratch Lion. MARCH 28 Lacrimosa Concert at Senglea Parish Church at 18:45 by The Marivyan Quartet, made up of a quartet of singers that perform different pieces, including solos, duets and ensembles. Also featuring special guest singer Albert Buttigieg. The concert will include pieces from Mozart's Requiem to Baroque and contemporary music. MARCH 28, 30 Robert Samut Hall Series (Concert 3) Performance of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra at Robert Samut Hall, Floriana at 19:30. Programme includes: Frederick Septimus Kelly - Elegy for Strings: In Memoriam Rupert Brooke Paul Hindemith Trauermusik with soloist Karl Mifsud; Giovanni Battista Pergolesi Stabat Mater with soloists Francesca Aquilina – soprano, Clare Ghigo – mezzo soprano. Led by Malta Philharmonic Orchestra conductor Christopher Muscat. MARCH 28, 29 The Creepers 5th anniversary gig Live blues gig at the Music Room, St James Cavalier, Valletta at 18:00. Showcasing The Creepers' new repertoire in a 2-hour set marking their 5th anniversary. The Creepers will be accompanied by a number of local artists who have played with the band on various occasions throughout the years. MARCH 28, 29 Dar Frate Jacoba photography exhibition Photography exhibition and talk on biodiversity by Mark C. Mifsud at Dar Frate Jacoba, Marsascala at 17:00 on March 28 and 09:00 on March 29. Dar Frate Jacoba welcomes people, especially youths, who are facing social problems. They are offered shelter and the possibility of re-discovering their life together with the rest of the community who resides at Dar Frate Jacoba. MARCH 27-APRIL 3 Ibqghu fl-Imhabba Tieghi Exhibition featuring a representation of the Last Supper and a display of Good Friday statues at the main square opposite Dingli Parish Church. The main highlight of this exhibition will be the painting that is held at Maria Maddelena Chapel of Dingli cliffs and which recently has been restored after a lightning strike caused damage to the chapel and painting in particular. This painting was completed in 2005 by the Gozitan artist Paul Camilleri Cauchi who was also responsible for its restoration. UNTIL APRIL 5 The Overlooked Performance Photography exhibition by Alex Attard at St James Cavalier, Valletta, presenting itself as a showcase of the ephemeral art beneath the face of Renzo Piano's new Parliament for Valletta. The Overlooked Performance exhibition is both an artistic expression and a document to the skin beneath the face of an historic architectural intervention and to the temporality of man at his workplace. The exhibition is curated by Vince Briffa. UNTIL MAY 1 The Roman Inquisition in Malta Exhibition at the Inquisitor's Palace, Birgu. The exhibition narrates the multifaceted role of the Inquisitor as supreme judge of the Holy Inquisition and Apostolic Delegate representative of the Papacy. It offers a unique and unprecedented opportunity to get to terms with stories of witchcraft, magical spells, theft and profanation of the sacred and a myriad of other curious episodes from the past.
