34 maltatoday, SUNDAY, 19 APRIL 2015 Sport FOOTBALL Tarxien R ................... 2 Mosta ........................ 1 EDWARD FALZON TARXIEN Rainbows registered their second consecutive win, this time against an unmotivated Mos- ta side playing to honour their fi- nal commitments of the season. It was a most important win for the Rainbows, who now move on 17 points, two points above tenth placed Qormi, who currently oc- cupy the relegation play off place. Mosta's disastrous form in the later stages of the league contin- ued yet again and they have now suffered a fifth defeat in seven, however remaining in safe waters in the standings. Tarxien were lacking Carlos He- via, Yepes and Mouhamed Soly while Mosta were in full strength. Tarxien started on the offensive from the start and went close to scoring after 15 minutes through Obinna Darlington after a corner kick taken by Aboulezz. Five minutes later, Tarxien forged ahead through Obinna beating Borg with a low shot. On 30 minutes, Tarxien found their second when off a Vallecillo cross from the right hand side, Ob- inna Darlington's header hit the crossbar before going into the net. Mosta reduced the gap before half time when off a corner kick taken by Darbo, the ball came to the di- rection of Babangida who smashed the ball home, giving Mintoff no chance. Four minutes into the second half, Triston Caruana was unlucky not to put his team further ahead when his powerful effort hit the upright. Tarxien; Mintoff, Farrugia, Hevia, M.
