ONYX Lighting - a trio of projects, contrasting materials & technology. In 2012, Peugeot unveiled its ONYX trio, Superbike Super- trike & a Supercar whose in- novative body work is made of carbon fibre and copper, its pure cabin made of felt and Newspa- perWood, the vehicle is powered by a 600 hp hybrid drive train. The ONYX chandelier is the second piece in Peugeot Design Lab's collection of custom made furniture. The ONYX furniture range seeks to explore the con- cept of: unique pieces of furni- ture, made to measure, to suit the choice, origin and personal- ity of the customer, but which always respects a common idea: the union, via a pronounced clear cut, between hyper-tech- nological materials and raw and natural materials. ONYX NewspaperWood lamps NewspaperWood is manufac- tured from recycled newspapers each textured ring being not a year of a trees growth but a page of the day's newspaper. In 2014 Peugeot Design Lab printed 20,000 newspapers for their Mi- lan Design Week show, at the end of the week the 3 000 remaining newspapers were recycled into a block of NewspaperWood, the waste of the 2014 show thus be- came a primary material in the creation of the products for the 2015 show. The Peugeot Design Lab News- paperWood envelops a rich cop- per shade that is connected to a sculpted white porcelain proto- type lamp. A responsible attitude: Le Bistrot du Lion is designed to recuperate and recycle all waste and insure that once folded up Le Bistrot Du Lion leaves the city in exactly the same state as when it arrived. Foodies can watch the chef 's every move thanks to a 46-inch screen and a sound system by leading French speaker-maker Focal. The speakers retransmit even the faintest sizzle of the food on the stovetop with as- tounding accuracy and are great for live sound when hooked up to the Le Bistrot du Lion mix table, which French DJs Adriano and The Ref lex took for its first spin. Speaking at the launch of the In- dustrial Solar Cool System, Justin Aquilina, general manager of Angelo Aquilina Refrigeration Supplies Ltd said that, "Given the data obtained from various industries where this technology has been installed, the energy savings are substantial. Apart from reducing a company's energy overhead, the new technology helps to reduce ongoing equipment main- tenance costs, extends the lifespan of the equipment and reduces C02 emissions" together with a good re- turn on investment which is consid- erably low. Aquilina added, "The energy ab- sorbed by the solar panels installed with this technology helps to boost the stages of the central mechanism, thereby reducing the number of oper- ating compressors, at any one time. "Given that Malta is blessed with 3000 hours of unbroken sunshine a year, makes this technology extreme- ly cost-effective. In markets where this technology has been tried and tested, it is proving to be pivotal in in- dustry due to the huge energy saving costs. Furthermore the installation of this technology can also help Malta to reach its renewable energy targets."
