The speculation has grown amid Red Bull and Renault's par- ticularly challenging start to the 2015 campaign, which dramati- cally led to both parties issuing threats to quit the sport. This was heightened by the res- ignation of Volkswagen Group Chairman Ferdinand Piech, long seen as the reason the company's various brands have stayed away from Formula 1. While Stadler suggested as re- cently as last week that Formula 1 "is still an option" for Audi, he moved to end the saga during a press meeting in Verbier, Swit- zerland. "Formula 1 should solve its own problems," Stadler is quoted by German newspaper Handelsblatt, adding that Audi's main concern is to address its decline in China. Red Bull motorsport consult- ant Helmut Marko said following the Spanish Grand Prix that Red Bull is reliant on the Volkswagen Group entering the sport.
