From June 11, the DS brand has been welcoming, at the DS World Paris, an unprecedented exhibi- tion of photos devoted to Yves Saint Laurent. A series of pictures never un- veiled before, taken by photogra- pher Pierre Boulat, and then by his daughter Alexandra Boulat, retraces the life and creative work of the renowned designer, from his beginnings at Dior to his fi- nal show at the Centre Pompi- dou. This exhibition immerses the visitor in the history of one of France's leading fashion houses. To discover until September 10 2015, free entrance. Since the inauguration of the DS World Paris in 2013, the DS brand manages to keep the arts alive by welcoming artists and young tal- ent in this precious setting close to the Champs- Élysées. After vis- iting the world of jewellery with Swarovski in March, the DS World Paris is welcoming, from June 11 an exhibition of photos featuring the most renowned French de- signer, Yves Saint Laurent. "It is a great honour for the DS World Paris to welcome an exhi- bition organised by the prestig- ious Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent, whose history is a byword for elegance and Parisian chic. Throughout the summer, the DS World Paris will be paying tribute to Saint Laurent through his avant- garde spirit and crea- tive genius, values that are shared by the DS brand", said Julien Faux, director of the DS World Paris. The work of Yves Saint Laurent encompasses many emblematic designs, including the three- quarter length coat, evening suit, trench coat and jumpsuit. The designer revolutionised fashion in the 20th century as part of his greatest project: the wardrobe of today's woman. The exhibition at the DS World Paris retraces almost 40 years of haute couture design and French know how, from the beginnings of Saint Laurent at Dior, his move to rue Spontini, and then to avenue Marceau, home to the house of Saint Laurent from 1974. This series of 36 photos takes us into the designer's world. We are able to visit the workshops and watch the excitement behind the scenes at the major fashion shows that forged the success and re- nown of Saint Laurent all over the world. The exhibition shows the design- er preparing his shows, adjusting a garment or quietly working on his own. It gives us a f leeting and discreet peek into the life of the most intriguing and mysterious of French fashion designers. Pierre Boulat, photographer for US magazine "Life", was close to Yves Saint Laurent and was able to take pictures of the designer not only during the preparation of his shows but also in the inti- macy of his Paris home. He shows us Yves Saint Laurent behind the scenes. Pierre Bergé, who is particularly fond of this series of photographs, says, "The meeting with Pierre Boulat was a great event. He was with us virtually night and day. We realised that we were building up a memory together." Alexandra Boulat, freelance pho- toreporter and daughter of Pierre Boulat, followed in her father's footsteps. Present during the run- up to the designer's last show on 22 January 2002 in the studio at 5 avenue Marceau, she produced a moving eyewitness account of the last days of the Yves Saint Laurent fashion house. NM Arrigo hosts award-winning mixologist Mattia Cilia NM Arrigo Ltd recently had the pleasure of hosting Mattia Cilia, mixologist and winner of the Premio Strega Miscelazione Mod- erna competition 2015. Sean Muldoon, owner of Dead Rabbit Grocery & Grog in New York, judged the competition, saying, "A lot of the drinks were judged were similar, whereas Mat- tia's drink was different. It was a simple drink and he was good to watch too." Mattia has over 12 years experi- ence in this field. He started work- ing in bar industry at the age of 14. Since then, he has worked at vari- ous locations, including in London at the Savoy hotel, amongst others. He currently works with Tito's Vodka and runs his own barista course in Ragusa. He was adamant to work with vodka companies, but then, Tito's vodka approached him. He fell in love with the vodka, de- scribing it as having a 'soul'. During his visit in Malta he dem- onstrated how using Tito's vodka gives a cocktail that extra kick, something others fail to do. While most vodkas just taste of spirit, Tito's Vodka has flavours of vanilla and cinnamon. Tito's Vod- ka legacy is promoted by word of mouth. Titos produces 100 liters a day versus other big vodka brands that produce 1,000 liters an hour. Tito's Vodka is exclusively repre- sented by NM Arrigo Ltd and can be purchased from Capt. A. Caru- ana outlets in St. Julian's and Val- letta. For more information regards this astounding vodka please don't hesitate to contact us on : 2122 3755/2122 5039
