Melita's continuous multi-million Euro investment in Fibre power in- ternet service has thrusted Malta in the number one position amongst EU countries for coverage of Next Generation Broadband. Melita has facilitated access to speeds of 100 Megabits per second or more wherever and whenever customers need it around Malta and Gozo, without requiring com- plex installations or changes to wiring. Malta has also climbed two plac- es in the amount of subscriptions for broadband connections of 30 Megabits or more. This comes as a direct result of Melita's upgrades to all its domestic customers, back in 2014, to a minimum of 30 Megabit per second connections and busi- ness broadband connections start- ing from 60 Megabits per second. "The results achieved by Malta and Melita are the result of a clear strategy supported by multi-million Euro investments aimed at deliver- ing the best broadband experience, nationwide to Malta. Our strat- egy remains based on converged services, where entertainment and communications increasingly depend on fast and high quality broadband internet. Statistics pub- lished by the EU encourage us. But we are also delighted to note that Maltese consumers and businesses have voted Melita as the 'Best Buy Award' for both fixed and wireless broadband internet", commented Andrei Torriani, CEO at Melita. Investments in fixed and wireless broadband for Melita continue re- lentlessly as the company recently also announced upgrades to its 3G+ mobile network, now deliver- ing speeds of up to 42Mbps on mo- bile internet. Moreover, melitaWIFI offers speeds of up to 100 Megabits per second and this is being rolled out in more hubs around the coun- try. Neighborhoods have access to even higher home internet speeds reaching up to 250 Megabits per second. These investments form part of Melita's five-year €70 mil- lion rolling investment program. Melita has also been confirmed as Malta's fastest broadband in- ternet provider by OOKLA - the international independent opera- tor of the site www.netindex.com. The Vodafone Annual Global Heroes is an award dedicated to high performers and role mod- els who behave in 'The Vodafone Way'. Heroes from across all mar- kets where Vodafone operates are selected on an annual basis and are recognised for their outstand- ing contribution and for the re- sults they bring to the company's success. The Vodafone Group Executive Committee selects these "An- nual Global Heroes" who are then invited to an all-expenses paid International VIP weekend trip to London, where they have the opportunity to meet Vodafone Group CEO, Vittorio Colao, and celebrate with other Heroes from around the world. Abela was selected by Vodafone Malta based on her role in han- dling the recent transformation of Vodafone Malta's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, ensuring that this was done with minimal disruption to the company's level of service to the customer. Her particular strength was communicating all issues related to this project in a clear and effective manner within the company, while managing its different operational and techni- cal aspects effectively to ensure that deliverables were met within the established timeframes. Michael Coney, Head of Com- mercial Operations, explained, "Here at Vodafone we believe very strongly in recognising and re- warding those people who make an outstanding contribution to our company, particularly those whose contribution results in an improved experience for our cus- tomers. After all it is the quality and commitment of our people that drives what we do and deter- mines how successful we can be. "Daniela has been nominated for this award because her commit- ment, focus and determination to get the job done and to get it done well really sums up 'The Vodafone Way'. "Despite being responsible for a particularly complex change pro- gramme, her attention to detail and the successful team dynamic she managed to create were in my view critical to its success. This nomination is a well-deserved rec- ognition of the results that she has managed to achieve." Implementing 'The Vodafone Way' across all its markets is one of the Vodafone Group's main corporate objectives and defines a consistent way of working, based on Speed, Simplicity and Trust, that aims to strengthen Vodafone's position as an admired company in the eyes of its customers and employees.
