maltatoday, SUNDAY, 26 JULY 2015 38 This Week Evenings on Campus returns EVENINGS on Campus was one of the very first festivals in Malta which started to give space to dif- ferent forms of contemporary cul- ture through its representations of visual and performing arts. Eve- nings on Campus originated in 1992 and is now in its 23rd edition. Since then, Evenings on Campus has become a regular and appreci- ated addition to Malta's summer cultural life. One of the objectives has been to involve University of Malta students and staff and to offer a venue to whoever felt they had a talent, whether artistic or or- ganisational. Evenings on Campus is organ- ised by Koperattiva Kulturali Uni- versitarja in collaboration with the University's Communications and Alumni Relations Office. KKU is an independent co-operative whose priority is to plan cultural activities at University throughout the academic year and during the summer months. Jazz, films, contemporary dance, photographic and cartoon exhibi- tions live rock bands and singer- song-writers concerts but also experimental theatre and 'literary evenings' have all been brought to life by University students and staff or artists from outside University of Malta over the years. Evenings on Campus 2015 – Programme of Events Tnemmis (16+) FRIDAY 31 JULY AND SATURDAY 1 AUGUST AT 2100HRS venue: Atriju Vassalli, University of Malta, Msida Campus (Għaxar karattri jnemmsu l-ħajja ta' madwarhom waqt li aħna nnemsu lilhom) Ten characters 'observe' the world around them while we observe them. Twisted Tales (event for children) SUNDAY 2 AUGUST AT 1800HRS venue: KSU Common Room, Uni- versity of Malta, Msida Campus Presented by More Or Less Thea- tre, the well-known fairy tales Hansel and Gretel and The Pied Piper of Hamelin will be merged together and altered so as to sound more sinister – while still being family friendly. Science of Honey SUNDAY 2 AUGUST AT 2000HRS Venue: Atriju Vassalli, University of Malta, Msida Campus Malta Café Scientifique, supported by the Research, Innovation & De- velopment Trust (RIDT), will dis- cuss what makes Maltese honey so special from taste to health. The Notebook - Pagni minn Hajjitna (12+) TUESDAY 4 AUGUST AT 2000HRS venue: Sir Temi Zammit Hall, Uni- versity of Malta, Msida Campus A poor and passionate young man falls in love with a rich young woman and gives her a sense of freedom. They soon are separated by their social differences. The film is directed by Nick Cassavetes. After the screening, there will be a discussion concerning the subti- tling in Maltese which was done by Antonella Debono, a student from the Department of Translation, Terminology and Interpreting Studies, in collaboration with Pro- fessor Anthony Aquilina, through the Think-Aloud Protocols. The Audition (18+) WEDNESDAY 5 AUGUST AND THURSDAY 6 AUGUST AT 2100HRS venue: Atriju Vassalli, University of Malta, Msida Campus A director tests how far an actress will go to get the part. Mistura Friday 7 and Sunday 9 August at 2100hrs venue: Atriju Vassalli, University of Malta, Msida Campus A live show that will include a live rendition of songs from the album U d-¬Dinja Tkompli Ddur togeth- er with some other well-known songs in Maltese, with the theme based on the concept of the album. Cover versions will be included in the narrative of the concept. The Tattoo Culture SATURDAY 8 AUGUST AT 2100HRS venue: Atriju Vassalli, University of Malta, Msida Campus An evening entirely dedicated to tattoos, from history to the medical aspect of tattoos and everything in between, interspersed with music from a live band. Frozen - Ir-Renju tas-Silg (U) MONDAY 10 AUGUST AT 1900HRS venue: Sir Temi Zammit Hall, Uni- versity of Malta, Msida Campus When the newly crowned Queen Elsa accidentally uses her power to turn things into ice to curse her home in infinite winter, her sister, Anna, teams up with a mountain man, his playful reindeer, and a snowman to change the weather condition. The film was directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee. After the screening, there will be a discussion concerning the subti- tling in Maltese which was done by Reuben Degabriele, a student from the Department of Translation, Terminology and Interpreting Studies, in collaboration with Pro- fessor Anthony Aquilina, through the Think-Aloud Protocols. Comedy On Campus (18+) WEDNESDAY 12 AND THURSDAY 13 AUGUST AT 2100HRS venue: Atriju Vassalli, University of Malta, Msida Campus Stand-up comedy with some of Malta's finest... and some surpris- es!
