Vodafone seeks to safeguard online safety for children Vodafone Malta has revamped its campaign to safeguard chil- dren's safety online as a Voda- fone Malta Foundation initia- tive. The key element of this cam- paign is a brand new website, ibrowsesafely.com.mt, as well as its associated Facebook page, which both act as interactive online platforms where parents, grandparents and educators can find the latest information on is- sues related to internet use and safety online. Frequent blog posts, written by both parents and professionals, and other useful tools and re- sources are uploaded on a regu- lar basis which are vetted by the Campaign's subject expert, An- drew Azzopardi, to ensure that the information is relevant and correct. The project also consists of an outreach programme where regular information talks are held by Veronica Montanaro, the Campaign's Outreach Coor- dinator supported by Vodafone Malta employees. Training is al- so being provided to Vodafone's staff in all its retail outlets so that they can offer advice and as- sistance on this topic to parents. "Technology is here to stay, and many parents, including myself as a parent of four, are under- standably concerned about its influence on their children and family," said Amanda Nelson, Vodafone Malta CEO,"As a lead- er in the telecommunications in- dustry, this is why Vodafone has taken a conscious decision to be a leader in the promotion and education of the safe use of mo- bile technology and the internet, particularly for children who are of course the most vulnerable in this area. We hope that by edu- cating and informing parents they will be better equipped to guide their children in using the internet sensibly and safely." ibrowsesafely.com.mt supports Malta's national campaign for the promotion of Online Safety - BeSmartOnline run by the Mal- ta Communications Authority MSC Cruises becomes Europe's number one cruise line Company to host 1.1 million passengers on board its ships across the continent The just-published 2015-2016 Cruise In- dustry News Annual Report declared MSC Cruises the number one cruise line in Europe, including in the Mediterranean. The Report, which is one of the most reputable sources of information for the industry, stated that MSC Cruises con- quered the leading rank in the industry thanks to a deployed capacity across the Continent of about 1.1 million passen- gers. MSC Cruises CEO Gianni Ono- rato commented: "We are particu- larly proud of this achievement. For it, we wish to thank all our guests whom with their choice recognised the quality of our product and offer- ing thus making MSC Cruises the number one cruise line now also in Europe." "MSC Cruises is a Europe- based company with bold global ambitions; we sail to many select destinations worldwide, from the Caribbean to South America and South Africa. But Europe, and the Mediterranean in particular, remains at the heart of our busi- ness, even as we grow and open up new geographical possibili- ties – Cuba being just the most recent example." Onorato concluded: "Going forward, we will continue to build on this position of strength in Europe to ensure we remain the cruise line of choice for more than 150 nationalities every year, in Europe, in the Mediterranean and in other markets, where our distinct cruise experi- ences set us apart." Swiss-based MSC Cruises S.A. is the world's largest privately- owned cruise line. In addition to being the market leader in Eu- rope, including in the Mediter- ranean, the Company benefits from a leadership position in the South American and South Afri- can markets. MSC Cruises also offers cruis- es in the Caribbean, the French Antilles and other sought-after locations around the world from Northern Europe to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Oman. Additionally, earlier this month MSC Cruises made the headlines when it an- nounced that, as of December 2015, it will be the first global cruise line to offer travellers the opportunity to visit Cuba and set sail on one of the 16 cruises that MSC Opera will operate from Havana. MSC Cruises will give cruise travellers from around the world the unique chance to get aboard the completely ren- ovated 65,542 GRT MSC Opera, part of the Company's €200 million Renaissance programme, and cruise to Jamaica, the Cayman Islands and Mexico, with two nights and two and a half days in the Cuban capital. MSC Cruises is an ambitious young line that grew 800% in its first 10 years to become the fourth largest cruise com- pany in the industry. The Company is set to double its f leet ca- pacity by 2022, through a €5.1 billion investment plan, which includes orders for seven ships in two state-of-the-art prototypes. Of these ships, MSC Cruises recently also announced the opening of sales for MSC Mer- aviglia's inaugural cruises – the Company's first new-generation ship, which is part of the above- mentioned investment plan. As of June 2017, the ship will sail in the Mediterranean from Bar- celona, Genoa or Marseille. The second next-generation ship cur- rently under construction, MSC Seaside will on the other hand sail year-round in the Caribbean starting in December 2017.
