"Farsons has supported the MM- DNA for a number of years. The association provides an exception- al service to our local community including our employees, and we are proud of our continued collab- oration," chairman of the Farsons Group Louis A. Farsons Foundation supports MMDNA emCare showcases SCOPE medical devices at Sahhtek event EMCARE recently showcased one of its health and care solutions, SCOPE (Safely Communicating health Observations in a Produc- tive and Efficient way) at an event organised by Atlas Insurance as part of its sponsorship of Saħħtek: The University of Malta health and wellbeing study at the Corin- thia in Attard. SCOPE enables individuals to conduct routine medical tests and instantly capture the read- ings electronically through health monitoring devices. Among these devices are a blood glucose meter and a blood pressure monitor. When individuals check their vital signs, the readings are auto- matically transmitted from the devices to an online platform, updating their electronic medical record. SCOPE also analyses the person's medical readings in comparison to their medical thresholds, so as to alert doctors and family mem- bers if the readings fall outside the thresholds. In such cases, SCOPE generates an emergency report containing all necessary information for ad- missions to hospital. The blood glucose meter that accompanies SCOPE helps users analyse their progress in achiev- ing overall treatment goals, under- stand how diet and exercise affect their blood sugar levels. It also helps to understand how other factors, such as illness or stress affect blood sugar levels, monitor the effect of diabetes medications on their blood sugar levels, as well as identify blood sugar levels that are dangerously high or low. The Saħħtek study aims to deter- mine the proportion and number of persons suffering from diabetes, hypertension, lack of physical ac- tivity, hyperlipidaemia and obesity currently residing in Malta, an as a result the event was an opportuni- ty for emCare to help raise aware- ness about the importance of us- ing the latest technology for the generation of accurate and up-to- date electronic medical records. emCare also exhibited the em- CareMobile phone at the event, which may also come with several devices for real-time electronic health monitoring. All devices are Bluetooth-ena- bled and readings are shown on the device and transmitted direct- ly to an online platform, so that immediate action will be taken if necessary.
