40 maltatoday, Sunday, 2 auguSt 2015 Events Delicata Classic Wine Festival returns Malta's greatest wine event of the year is back for its 14th year, at the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Val- letta on 6, 7, 8, and 9 August 2015, from 7.00pm until midnight. Then three weeks later on 28, 29, and 30 August it happens all over again in Nadur, Gozo. The way it works is simple. En- trance is free. To try the wines simply purchase a wristband for the night and a souvenir glass for €12.50 (which is then yours to keep) upon entrance to the gar- dens. The last glasses and wrist- bands are sold at 11.00pm, the last wine is poured at 11.30pm and the festival closes at midnight. No glasses or bottles will be sold or alcohol poured to anyone under the age of 17. At the Valletta Wine Festival live cooking stalls will be serving suckling pig, pasta, pizza, paella, koftas, kebabs, Indian dishes, su- shi and Thai noodles dishes, a se- lection of cheese and mixed plat- ters and desserts. On Friday, Saturday and Sun- day nights only, Island Caterers will serve a Mediterranean Grill buffet, accompanied by Delicata wines, in the fully seated restau- rant area down in the Saluting Battery, with its breath-taking views over the harbour, for €36 per person. Live entertainment will be per- formed every night in Valletta starting with an opening night concert by Red Electrick and Planet Seed on Thursday, Billy Lee and the Spiteri Lucas Band on Friday, Relikc and The Crowns on Saturday and Cash & Band and George Curmi (Puse) and his band on Sunday. The festival will be compered by Mireille Bonello and street magic will be performed by Ivan Mallia on all four nights. In Nadur Gozo, there will also be live entertainment every night and an assortment of food stalls selling both Gozitan and Interna- tional dishes. There will also be a regular shuttle service operating each night between the Mġarr ferry terminal and the festival in Nadur for a nominal fee of €2 re- turn per person. The new two-class A380 service will operate daily as f light EK376 from Dubai to Bangkok and EK377 from Bangkok to Dubai. The up- gauge from its current Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will see an in- crease in capacity of 255 seats per f light and 3,570 seats per week to and from the Thai capital city. Barry Brown, Emirates Division- al Senior Vice President, Com- mercial Operations East, said: "Thailand is an important mar- ket for Emirates, and the A380 has been extremely popular with travellers since we first started the double-decker aircraft service to Thailand in 2009. The addition of this two-class A380 passenger service will give even more travel- lers the chance to experience this revolutionary aircraft first hand. "For business and leisure travel- lers, the Dubai-Bangkok route is a popular choice and this additional A380 service will be instrumental in helping us meet growing pas- senger demand, as well as deliver substantial economic benefits through travel connections and inbound seats." Emirates' two-class A380 is ca- pable of carrying 615 passengers across its business and economy cabins – accommodating 58 lie- f lat seats in Business Class and 557 seats in Economy Class. Emirates is the world's largest operator of the spacious A380 aircraft, with 64 in the f leet and 76 on order. An industry bench- mark for onboard innovation and comforts, Emirates' A380s serve 34 global destinations of which 11 are in the Far East: Auckland, Bangkok, Beijing, Brisbane, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Perth, Seoul, Singapore, Shanghai and Sydney. EK376 will depart Dubai at 0330hrs and arrive at Suvarna- bhumi International Airport at 1235hrs the same day. This f light connects seamlessly with Europe- an and African destinations. The return f light, EK377, a popular f light for residents of countries in the Gulf, will depart Bangkok at 1600hrs, offering a convenient departure time that suits hotel check-out times, and arrives in Dubai the same day at 1955hrs, a f lying time of 6 hours and 55 minutes. Wayne Marshall, accompanied by the Schola Cantorum Jubi- late and the New Choral Singers choirs together with the partici- pation of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, entertained HSBC Malta customers with some clas- sic as well as modern tunes. The event ended with a recep- tion with breathtaking views from the Fort.
