With their victory, Birkirkara join Hibernians in third place while Pembroke suffered their second consecutive defeat after starting the season with two vic- tories. Birkirkara immediately showed their dominance and took the lead after just 11 minutes of play. Fabrizio Miccoli served Maurico Mazzetti who then went on to beat goalkeeper Matthew Farru- gia with a low shot. Birkirkara doubled their lead on the 16th minute – a shot by Elin- ton Antonio Costa Morais was partially saved by the Pembroke goalkeeper, and off the rebound Vito Plut scored from close range to make the score 2-0. Pembroke managed to get back into the game when on the 45th minute Austin Martz beat goal- keeper Justin Haber with his shot from the edge of the area. Five minutes into the second half, Birkirkara restored their two-goal lead. Off a freekick by Miccoli, goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia failed to secure the ball and off the rebound, Zack Mus- cat scored to make the score 3-1. Birkirkara put the match out of reach for Pembroke on the 66th minute when Miccoli served Lil- iu and off the latter's cross, Vito Plut easily beat goalkeeper Mat- thew Farrugia to make the final score 4-1.
