54 maltatoday, SUNDAY, 27 SEPTEMBER 2015 Sport Pembroke hold champions to surprise draw Pembroke Athleta ........ 1 Hibernians ................... 1 NEWLY promoted Pembroke earned a surprise point against champions Hibernians who ended the game with 10 men. Despite a bright start to the game, the champions failed to win all three points against a reso- lute Pembroke who scored a late equalizer to end the game in a 1-1 draw. Hibs played for almost an hour in ten men after having Andrei Agius sent off after 32 minutes af- ter receiving a second yellow card for a foul on Pembroke forward Kyle O'Brien. Despite being a man down, Hibs took the lead early in the second half and seemed heading for vic- tory but Pembroke had other thoughts and scored the shock equalizer in added time. Following the break, a spirited Hibs side took the lead on 58 minutes when from a central free- kick, Clayton Failla's delivery was misjudged by the Paolites' former goalkeeper Mario Muscat with the ball falling kindly to Brazilian striker Jorginho who headed the ball into the net. On 66 minutes, Failla and Jorginho combined again with the Brazilian's low shot saved by Mus- cat, with the former Malta No 1 making a double save from Lima shot from close quarters. As time passed, Pembroke grew in confidence and Hibs' goaler Rudy Briffa denied Pembroke an equaliser ten minutes from time when he first dived to his left to block Laudisi's shot and from the rebound he again showed great re- flexes to save Villalobos' attempt. The equalizer arrived in stop- page time, with substitute Siraj Arab dribbling his way past two Hibs defenders before hitting a low show that was somehow kept out by Briffa and from the re- bound US striker Austin Martz drilled the ball into the net to the delight of Athleta's fans.
