maltatoday, SUNDAY, 4 OCTOBER 2015 39 This Week Revenge of the dead ex wife MADC is prepping its team for Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward, as directed by Polly March. Charles Condomine is a success- ful and apparently happily mar- ried novelist. In order to conduct research about the occult, he and his second wife Ruth invite an ec- centric medium, Madame Arcati, to conduct a séance at their home, assuming she will be a fraud. In- cluded in the group are the Con- domine's friends – the skeptical Dr George Bradman and his na- ive wife Violet. Madame Arcati's ability to connect with the dead is genuine. She inadvertently sum- mons a ghost from Charles's past: Elvira, his first wife, who has been dead for seven years. When Madame Arcati leaves af- ter the séance she is not aware that she has caused Elvira to appear. Charles can see and hear Elvira, but no one else can. Ruth thinks her husband has gone insane, un- til a floating vase, courtesy of El- vira, is handed to her out of thin air. Ruth is forced to accept the strange truth and tries to come to terms with the ghostly Elvira who makes every effort to disrupt her marriage and reclaim Charles as her husband. The competition es- calates between Charles's dead and living wives. And that's when the fun begins. Directed by Polly March with Co- ryse Borg, Francesca Briffa, Stefan Cachia Zammit, Cathy Lawlor, Polly March, John Marinelli and Tina Rizzo. Tickets are at €10.
