"i have full confidence that maria and the firm's partners will con- tinue building strong collaborative relationships based on a genuine understanding of client needs, strategy and aspirations." "i thank Deo for his sterling con- tribution in building and develop- ing rsm malta into what it is today. the partners, directors and staff will cherish his values of mutual re- spect and collaboration and we will together strive to continue empow- ering our clients every step of the way to maximize their potential," said incoming managing Partner maria micallef. the coming months will signal the start of a new chapter in the life of rsm malta as the firm rebrands to 'rsm' following the global an- nouncement by its international network, rsm international that it is adopting a single global brand. rsm international, the world's sev- enth largest audit, tax and consult- ing network, is adopting 'rsm' as its global brand name across all of its member firms worldwide. rsm malta has been a member of the rsm international network for 10 years. today, the firm employs 75 highly qualified personnel across various disciplines including tax, audit and consultancy services. rsm international is the world's sixth largest provider of tax serv- ices, has the fifth largest firm in the Us and the third largest in China. rsm international was the fastest growing top ten global network in 2014, posting an 18% increase in revenue, year-on-year, to Us$4.4 billion for the year ending 31 De- cember 2014. the adoption of a unified brand reinforces the global network's position as the adviser of choice to entrepreneurial, growth-focused organisations. From L to R back row: RSM partners Joe Ellul Falzon, George Gregory, Vladimi- ro Comodini behind Maria Micallef (incoming Managing Partner) and Deo Scerri (outgoing Managing Partner) The Peugeot 2008 DKR16 just got bigger and better an updated version of the two-wheel drive beast that made its debut on the epic Dakar rally in January has been revealed. this latest evolution of the car, which is scheduled to make its competitive debut later in the year before heading to south america, is longer, wider, lower and more pow- erful than its predecessor: present- ing a more aggressive stance, with a raft of improvements under the skin as well. the front and rear overhangs have been reduced, enhancing the car's go-anywhere ability. this is vital when it comes to tackling the varied obstacles such as sand dunes, river beds, and huge rocks that character- ise the Dakar, making it one of the last true sporting adventures left on earth. the Peugeot 2008DKr16 also benefits from improved aerodynam- ics: the bonnet and roof- mounted air-intake have been heavily revised, in order to provide more balanced downforce between front and rear. the new air scoop also ensures bet- ter airflow. Other evolutions lie under its car- bon skin. the suspension has been redesigned to deal more effectively with the different and rough ter- rains. it also benefits from better weight distribution, as well as mag- nesium one-piece wheels for the first time, matched to lighter tyres from michelin. these replace the alu- minium two-piece wheels from last year, with the combination resulting in a significant weight saving. the new car has been a continual work in progress, with development work starting as soon as the original car crossed the finish ramp in Bue- nos aires just over seven months ago, at the conclusion of this year's Dakar. Peugeot's engineers went over their 'Lion' piece by piece, analysing what could be done better, with the help of its Dakar experts stéphane Peter- hansel (an 11-time winner), Carlos sainz (a two- time world rally cham- pion and also former Dakar winner) as well as Cyril Despres (a five-time Dakar winner on bikes). these improvements were gradu- ally applied and assessed through a series of tests, culminating in a one- two finish for Peterhansel and De- spres on the recent China silk road rally using an interim-specification car. this was essentially the 2015 model, with a number of develop- ment parts for 2016 added. there are some surprises under the bonnet as well. Despite the air restrictor, the 3.0-litre V6 twin- turbo diesel engine now has more power. the driveability of the en- gine is increased too, which will be particularly useful during twisty stages. Peugeot sport Director Bruno Famin, overseeing the final test in morocco to sign off the latest in- carnation of Peugeot's Dakar chal- lenger, commented, "there isn't one big change that we have made on our car: instead it has been a se- ries of small evolutions in different areas, which together we hope will amount to an overall improvement. "the areas we have concentrated on include bodywork and aerody- namics – as a result of which the car looks slightly different compared to last year – as well as engine and sus- pension, which is all under the skin. "the tests we have carried out up to now, as well as our one-two fin- ish in China recently, indicate that we are heading in the right direc- tion. You really cannot compare our state of preparation now to how it was for our first Dakar this time last year, when everything was new to us! Of course you can never say that you are completely ready for the Dakar either because you sim- ply never know what it will throw at you, but certainly this time we are more ready." HSBC UK Contact Centre Malta joins the world's biggest coffee morning for charity the HsBC UK Contact Centre malta (HBEU) in swatar cel- ebrated the 'World's Biggest Cof- fee morning' in aid of UK-based macmillan Cancer support char- ity and raised a total of €1,650 in less than seven hours. staff participated in the event with great enthusiasm and brought in more than 50 types of cakes, muffins, sandwiches, and delicacies. a variety of fun activi- ties such as 'Baked or Faked', 'spot the Cake', a pie-throwing contest, and an indian head massage by Es- sence of Beauty further sweetened the charity drive. the World's Biggest Coffee morning is macmillan's biggest fundraising event for people fac- ing cancer. Last year alone, the charity raised £25 million. While the macmillan doesn't have a registered presence in malta, the support network is often the first point of recommendation of doc- tors in malta to cancer patients and their families. "the eagerness of staff to raise funds for the cancer support group is impressive.
