maltatoday, SUNDAY, 25 OCTOBER 2015 42 This Week LAST Saturday, UK Magazine DJ MAG has reconfirmed the ranking of Maltese DJ Duo Tenishia in the World's Top 100 DJs list for the fifth Year in a row as they announced their results for 2015 at the Amster- dam Dance Event. Until now Ten- ishia are the only DJs to ever carry the Maltese flag in the prestigious list. The news brought with it a flood of great comments on the Tenishia so- cial media pages from international and local fans showing their appreci- ation and pride in the Duo. Tenishia have confirmed that this was one of their best years yet which have seen them doing their third time per- formance at the massive Tomorrow- land Festival and dominating in Asia like never before where the duo even hosts a monthly show on MTV. Dimtri Vegas and Like Mike have been crowned kings in this year DJ MAG Top 100 list followed by Isle of MTV performers Hardwell and Martin Garrix. The DJ Mag top 100 list has been around since 1999 and it's the only official DJ poll in the World. All based on public vot- ing Carl Cox, Sasha, Tiesto, Armin van Buuren and David Guetta were amongst the previous Number 1 DJs as the ever changing trends and the music genres trough out the years keep reflecting in the list. Tenishia have ranked in the 71st position this year climbing two plac- es since their 73rd position last year. They have reached their highest ranking in 2012 at the 50th position. It is estimated that over 40,000 DJs from all over the World compete to put their name in the DJ MAG Top 100. As they did in the previous four years, Tenishia will be stopping their constant World touring to return to their homeland to celebrate this great achievement with their fellow Maltese followers at Sky Club in Paceville. Hawkmoths are wonderful insects. Large, fast and streamlined, with long tapering back-swept wings, they look like they came off a fighter plane engineer's drawing board. About six species occur in Malta, the smallest of which is the Hummingbird Hawkmoth. It's an endearing creature to watch – conveniently by day – 'working' a flowering shrub. Going diligently from flower to flower, it stops over each and inserts its long hair-thin tongue to syphon that elusive drop of sweet nectar, and true to its feathered namesake never landing for one second but hovering in mid-air. If there's a Lantana shrub in your green patch you've the perfect foodstall for this beauty. But despite the elegant design and impeccable behaviour, the Hummingbird Hawkmoth still hasn't escaped persecution. In a throwback to the Dark Ages, many still believe large moths bring misfortune, and some oaf saw fit to name our little athlete Ħabbara (harbinger) in Maltese. So people swat it, thinking "There, there, family's safe now." How head-bangingly stupid. 477.
