Montenegrin defender Blazo Rajo- vic was Naxxar's unlikely hero as his second half goal secured the Lions' second win of the campaign. The Saints started off the better side and the promoted team took the lead after just two minutes when Matteo Desira Buttigieg scored with a low shot from Matthew Guillaum- ier's cross. The waterlogged pitch did not make it easy for both sets of players but the Saints' lead did not last long. Naxxar levelled matters on 20 min- utes when Jurgen Debono scored from a direct free kick to send both sides in level at the interval. After the restart, Naxxar did not have to wait long to go ahead as Rajovic scored with a header from the lively Debono's cross to seal his side's victory. The win puts the Lions on six points, two ahead of Qormi in 11th. ST. The Greens scored twice in the final twelve minutes to come back from one goal down and go up to third, two points behind league leaders Valletta, who however have a game in hand. Once again, the newly-promot- ed Athleta gave their opponents a good run for their money and could consider themselves unlucky to leave the pitch empty-handed as they suffered a third consecutive defeat. Pembroke took the lead on 33 minutes when Serbian defender Zoran Levnajic flicked the ball past Floriana's goalkeeper Matthew Calleja Cremona. Athleta sucesfully managed to defend their goal for the rest of the half and the Greens only breached Pembroke's defence in the game's final stages. Argentinian substitute Mauricio Villa leveled the score on 78 min- utes with a strong header which Pembroke's goalkeeper Mario Muscat saved but couldn't keep it off the line. As the game looked to be ending in a stalemate, the Greens' Italian striker Mario Fontanella scored a last-gasp winner who with anoth- er header scored past man of the match Mario Muscat.
