58 maltatoday, SUNDAY, 8 NOVEMBER 2015 Sport SAILING VOLLEYBALL TENNIS On This Friday's Show Michael Diacono makes three exciting dishes with capers Fridays at 18:15 on TVM Royal Malta Yacht Club hosts Vikings Sailing Club THE Royal Malta Yacht Club has welcomed fellow sailors from the Vikings Sailing Club to their Clubhouse enabling them to provide lessons to children aged between 8 and 15 years of age under the On the Move pro- gramme offered by Sport Malta. By having access to the Royal Malta Yacht Club's slipway fa- cilities the Vikings Sailing Club team will be able to bring their boats out from storage where they have been lying idle for a number of months. This ar- rangement will be in force until the Vikings Sailing Club can oc- cupy their new premises in Hay- wharf. "We are grateful towards the Royal Malta Yacht Club for fa- cilitating the process to offer such lessons. These lessons are very important as this is where the future of our sport lies' said Gerald Portanier, Commodore of the Vikings Sailing Club. "Al- though we missed out on our summer activities due to our premises being unsafe, we have started minimum refurbish- ment works required to get part of the premises safe and opera- tional, thanks to initial funding that Yachting Malta Ltd has pro- vided the Club". On the Move sailing lessons will be given on Laser 16 and Topper (single handed) sailing boats and courses are held eve- ry Saturday between 8:30 and 12:30pm. "The Royal Malta Yacht Club is happy to be of assistance to ensure that the work they do at grassroots level is ongoing" said David Anastasi, Royal Malta Yacht Club Rear Commodore (Sailing). Frankie Tanti Record-chasing Djokovic sets up Murray showdown WORLD number one Novak Djokovic survived a second-set blip to reach the Paris Masters final with a 6-3 3-6 6-0 win over Stan Wawrinka on Saturday -- his 21st victory in a row. The Serb, looking to become the first man to win six Mas- ters title in a season, briefly lost focus as Swiss Wawrinka, who beat Djokovic in the French Open final, ended his 29-set winning streak to claim the sec- ond set. But the fourth seed, who knocked out Rafa Nadal in a late thriller the night before, was made to pay as he lost the last six games to a relentless Djoko- vic who can claim an unprece- dented third consecutive Bercy crown when he plays Andy Murray in Sunday's final. Briton Murray beat Spain's David Ferrer 6-4 6-3. Murray made a dream start, breaking to love in the first game, but the Spaniard levelled for 3-3 when two Murray un- forced errors gave him a break in the sixth game. In a see-saw opening set, Fer- rer set up four more break points in the eighth game but Murray saved them all and stole the serve of the Spaniard who made a string of unforced errors. The Scot finished a superb exchange at the net with a fine sliced lob to set up two set points and on the first one Fer- rer netted a routine backhand. In typically tenacious fashion Ferrer got straight back down to business and raced to a 3-1 lead in the second set but Mur- ray then reeled off five games in a row. Murray will guarantee finish- ing the year second in the ATP world rankings for the first time if he wins the title.
