The acquisition is subject to regula- tory approval being obtained. Kinetix specialises in the design, implementation, support and op- timisation of ICT solutions for the corporate sector. Its services include the manage- ment of customers' entire IT in- frastructures from servers and desktops to applications, data and networks. Kinetix also supports its customers throughout the IT investment lifecycle from initial strategy development and technol- ogy assessment, through to design, procurement and implementation. GO Chairman, Deepak Pad- manabhan, said, "This strategic in- vestment by GO further enhances the Group's ability to deliver a 360 degree communications and ICT service to our corporate clients. As Malta's leading provider of mobile, internet, telephony, data network- ing solutions, business IP services, managed and co-location facilities, the addition of the specific serv- ices offered by Kinetix IT Solutions Limited create new synergies that should deliver greater value both to our corporate clients and to our shareholders." Workshop demonstrates EVG-3D construction system's sustainability Recently, JMV Building Solu- tions was the host to one of the world 's leading engineers in this field. Professor Ayman Mosal- lam of the University of Califor- nia, Irvine, USA, gave a work- shop as an introduction to the EVG-3D innovative construc- tion system, a key to sustain- ability for Maltese developers and developments. In this event, approximately 50 leading local engineers, ar- chitects, contractors, university professors and developers at- tended the Workshop that was held at Radisson Blu St Julians hosted by local EVG-manufac- turer, JMV Building Solutions from Zebbug. The EVG system reduces energy consumption in dwellings by up to 50%, and reduces building loads to up to 40% in addition to other envi- ronmental benefits. The EVG 3D construction sys- tem comprises an engineered sandwich panel consisting of re- inforced mortar skins and a fire- retardant EPS core. The EVG structural elements, including walls, f loor slabs, and joints were successfully tested by Pro- fessor Mosallam over a number of years and in several differ- ent countries in uniaxial ten- sion, uniaxial compression and in-plane shear in accordance of the requirements of the Interna- tional Code Council Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) Criteria AC15. In addition, split test and com- pression test of mortar cubes were undertaken to evaluate the mortar properties, all of which proved to have excellent me- chanical properties. During the well-attended EVG-3D Malta Workshop, Pro- fessor Mosallam explained that the sandwich structures are very stiff and material efficient in relation to their weight. The sandwich works as a whole with superior capability in transmit- ting both horizontal and verti- cal shear forces ensuring the de- sired composite action of such structural members. Professor Mosallam explained that that based on his compre- hensive research work, struc- tural shear walls made of EVG panels are the only panel system that has been proven and cer- tified for resisting earthquake forces in different categories specified by the building code. Professor Mosallam's current core research covers topics relat- ed to structural and earthquake engineering with a specialisa- tion in advanced composites and hybrid systems for infra- structure applications, hence his advocacy around EVG-3D here in Malta. In addition, he has been in- volved in several major research projects dealing with the de- velopment and verification of innovative seismic repair and rehabilitation systems for rein- forced concrete, masonry, wood and steel structures, again pri- marily through deployment of EVG-3D. Currently, Mosallam is involved in several funded research projects around con- struction system. Professor Mosallam is the au- thor of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Struc- tural Design Manual for Com- posite Joints and the co-author of the ASCE Prestandard Docu- ment for Pultruded Composites. He also serves on the Editorial Board of the Composites Part B Journal, Advances in Civil Engi- neering, HBRC and many others as well as his role as the guest editor of special issues on infra- structure applications of differ- ent international journals. JMV Managing Director Ray- mond Vassallo said, "We were honoured to host a Workshop with Professor Masallam, all his case studies show the high-per- formance of EVG-3D panels un- der different conditions. These EVG-3D panels are ideal for the Maltese climate and building industry. Adoption is rapid. We have used them to extend hotels, build airspaces and as the main component for commercial and domestic buildings. The savings speak for themselves, that's why local people are adopting this as their building-block of choice."
