maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 25 NOVEMBER 2015 17 Events Emirates SkyCargo named Carrier of the Year for third year in a row by Payload Asia EMIRATES SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, continues to lead the air cargo industry by winning the cov- eted "Overall Carrier of the Year" award at the Payload Asia Awards 2015. This is the third consecutive year Emirates Sky- Cargo has received this prestig- ious award. The honour was accepted by Ravishankar Mirle, Emirates Vice President of Far East and Australasia, Cargo, at a gala din- ner at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, in Singapore. The cer- emony took place in conjunc- tion with the 2015 Payload Asia Conference, an annual trade event for the air cargo industry. "We are grateful to have been named 'Overall Carrier of the Year' yet again and would like to thank the magazine's readers, including many of our custom- ers, for voting for us," said Na- bil Sultan, Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Cargo. "This achievement recognizes the hard work of our teams sta- tioned across our global net- work and the value they bring to our customers each day." Emirates SkyCargo was ini- tially shortlisted for the award by an esteemed panel of judges. Readers of Payload Asia were then invited to vote for their favourite carrier. Criteria for the award included the carrier's network coverage and develop- ment strategy, operational per- formance, customer service and product innovations, as well as market leadership, responsive- ness and adaptability. Emirates SkyCargo is the larg- est air cargo carrier in the world. With a young and efficient f leet of 240 aircraft, includ- ing 15 freighters, SkyCargo's route network spans 147 desti- nations in 79 countries on six continents, ensuring significant global reach and connectivity among the trade routes of the world. In its 2014-15 financial year, Emirates SkyCargo car- ried 2.4 million tonnes of cargo across its network, contributing 15 percent – or US $3.4 billion – to the airline's total transport revenue. Friends of Award to help more young people THE Duke of Edinburgh's International Award – Malta will be launching the Friends of the Award Programme. Through this initiative, the Duke of Edin- burgh's International Award seeks to recognise and thank its donors for their support, whilst encouraging more in- dividuals and corporates, to become a Friend. The Friends' programme is open to trusts, foundations, individuals, corporates and in-kind supporters who share the goal of making an impact on young people's lives. Their support ensures the long-term development and sustainability of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Malta. The Friends of the Award initiative will be launched during a lunch held at the Casino Maltese, Valletta, in the presence of the Patron of the Award in Malta, Presi- dent Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, as well as the founder of the Duke of Edinburgh's award himself, The Duke of Edinburgh KG KT. During the launch, the first group of Friends of the Award will receive a certificate of rec- ognition from the Patron, President Marie Louise Co- leiro Preca. As the world's leading youth achievement award, the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award equips young people for life and work. The Duke of Edin- burgh's Award Programme defines what good non-for- mal education looks like, provides a tried and tested framework for its delivery in any context where young people might be gathered, and allows achievement to be recognised in a way that is consistent worldwide, so giving young people inter- nationally recognised ac- creditation of their experi- ences. Employers worldwide recognize the programme's worth as an empowerment tool, and many large or- ganizations even offer the Award to young employees as part of a progressive ca- reer path within their or- ganization. The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award aims to make its programme available and accessible to all young people in Malta. This is only pos- sible through the support of donors and corporate supporters who ensure the long-term develop- ment and sustainability of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award. The Friends will be giving an opportunity to experience new things, develop con- fidence and learn skills for life to more young people in Malta. Customers subscribing to Limit- less Duo Pack will get six months free internet during which period they will pay just €9.99 irrespec- tive of the internet speed they opt for.
