Bookings: http://ticketengine.sjcav. org. DECEMBER 19 Falcon's Flying Circus Classic rock band Falcon's Flying Circus will be performing at Django Jazz Bar, Republic Street, Valletta at 22:00. Entrance is at €5. EXHIBITIONS UNTIL DECEMBER 16 Running with Scissors Paul Scerri's solo exhibition held at the Splendid, Strait Street, Valletta. The series of work has been developed over the past 12 months, it comprises over 30 freestanding works as well as wall hangings. Curated by Lisa Gwen Baldacchino. UNTIL JANUARY 7 Mdina Biennale – 'Christianity, Spirituality and the Other' The Mdina Cathedral Contemporary Art Biennale will establish a spiritual space celebrating creativity. The theme for 2015 is 'Christianity, Spirituality and the Other', 'The Other' standing for faith and non-faith, belief and non-belief, theist and atheist, agnostic and polytheist. The Mdina Biennale traces its roots back to the previous Christian and Sacred Art Biennale of the 1990s, and the forthcoming 2015 event will radically widen its creative spectrum. UNTIL JANUARY 10 Watches Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum in collaboration with Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti is continuing with its series of temporary exhibitions with an exhibition dedicated to antique watches. Over 50 watches specially loaned from private and museum collections, highlight the technological and artistic qualities of antique watches. This exhibition is guest-curated by David Thompson, who occupied the role of senior curator of Horology at the British Museum until his recent retirement. The exhibition considers their variations and functions, and takes an in-depth look at particularly important watches belonging to notable personalities. PUBLIC TALKS DECEMBER 14 Francesco Zahra's Apotheosis The Mdina Cathedral Contemporary Art Biennale organizes the lecture 'Francesco Zahra's Apotheosis. The gloria of St. Paul at the Aula Capitulare' by Prof. Keith Sciberras at 19:30. The lecture discusses one of the major artistic productions of Late Baroque Malta, namely Francesco Zahra's paintings representing the Glory of St Paul for the Aula Capitolare at Mdina. The lecture will analyse its complicated iconography and will also discuss elements of style, technique and methods of patronage. Entrance for the event will be from the Cathedral's side. DECEMBER 15 Peripheral Alternatives to Rodin in Modern European Sculpture Peripheral Alternatives to Rodin in Modern European Sculpture: With particular emphasis on Josef Kalleya's art and the visual dialogues of an island scene The Department of History of Art, Faculty of Arts, University of Malta is organising the international conference 'Peripheral Alternatives WHAT'S ON TODAY Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci Live screening of the Royal Op- era House, London production of the two operas at Eden Cinemas, St Julian's at 19:15 on December 10 and 15:00 on December 13. These two short Italian operas are regarded as composers' master- piece and are brought together in a new staging by award-winning director Damiano Michieletto, who sets both operas in a poverty stricken village in 1980s southern Italy, where the Mafia has a hold. The Royal Opera's Music Director Antonio Pappano condusts a cast that includes charismatic Dutch soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek, exciting Italian soprano Carmen Giannattasio and the thrilling latvian tenor Aleksandrs Anto- nenko.
