But Muscat also saw his trust lead decline by two points over the last survey last Octo- ber. Compared to last year Muscat has seen his trust lead slashed by six points. At 8.7 points the trust gap between the two leaders is the lowest ever registered in MaltaToday's surveys. Respondents were asked which of the two political leaders they trusted most and for which party they would vote if an election were to be held tomorrow. The survey showed Muscat commanding a larger lead over Busuttil than that enjoyed by his party over the PN. Significantly, Labour leads by fewer than three points over the PN when it comes to voting intentions, down from a four-point lead in June 2015 and a nine-point lead a year ago. For the first time the difference between the two parties' points falls within the sur- vey's margin of error. Additionally, the survey registers the nar- rowest gap – 2.6 points – between the two parties since January 2015, when Labour was leading by a staggering nine points.
