43 Events maltatoday, Sunday, 31 January 2016 Hat-trick for LeoVegas at EGR Nordics Awards 2016 LeoVegas.com, the king of mo- bile gaming, is proud to announce that it won the most defining cate- gories in the first ever egR Nord- ics awards that were held in malta on 21st January 2016. The objec- tive of the prestigious egR Nord- ics awards is to celebrate the most successful and innovative online gaming companies operating in the Nordic region. There were a total of eight op- erator awards and LeoVegas was shortlisted for six of them. In the awards ceremony, LeoVegas was declared the leader in three of them: casino operator of the Year, mobile operator of the Year and the award that defined the evening - the Nordics operator of the Year. Johan styren, LeoVegas gam- ing ceo said, "The egR awards is a great benchmarking exercise for gaming operators to measure success when com-pared to the competition. We are extremely pleased to have won the casino operator award and the mobile operator award as these are the two main categories that really de- fines LeoVegas. Being declared as the Nordics operator of the Year is really astounding! Having our efforts acknowledged in this way is a great mark of approval for the whole team at LeoVegas. It shows that what we've been doing within the region over the past 12 months is re-ally ahead of the game." The judging process was done by a panel of experts who were chosen by egR in view of their wealth of experience, ranging from former executives of pub-lic companies and household-name gambling brands, highly success- ful en-trepreneurs and key advis- ers to the industry. Casino Operator: LeoVegas The judging panel based their decision on which casino opera- tor dominated the sector through their reach across the Nordic re- gion and quality of their product. It was also based on the original- ity of the product, the strength of the brand and product, and inno- vations helping set the operator's offering apart from its competi- tors. LeoVegas is delighted to have been declared as the winner of this award as it also shows its growth and commercial success, quality, innovation and dif-ferentiation of its product, customer acquisition and retention strategies as well as its quality of brand and market- ing. Mobile Operator: LeoVegas The verdict for this award was based on the operator that has stood out from the pack within mobile and tablet real-money gambling. Judges looked for evi- dence of innovation, growth, as well as the quality of product and service. The panel of experts also looked at the growth and commer- cial success of mobile products, player metrics, product quality, functionality, innovation and dif- ferentiation as well as the opera- tor's cross-platform strategy. Nordics Operator: LeoVegas The judges bestowed this award to the operator that over the past year has managed to set the standards for others to follow in the Nordics region. They looked for a company that has acted as a driving force for innovation in the region across all areas of the busi- ness and for a winner that clearly differen-tiated itself from the chasing pack in its sector, through a mixture of growth, innovation and strong product performance in one or more of the key verti- cals. LeoVegas is ecstatic by this win as the award confirms the compa- ny's operational excellence, qual- ity and diversity of product, the innovation and differentiation in its offering, growth and commer- cial success and the company's influence on the wider egaming market. THe emirates group, comprising emirates airline and dnata, has released its fifth annual environ- mental report for 2014-15. audited by Pricewaterhouse- coopers, the report presents en- vironmental performance data across a range of activities includ- ing airline operations, dnata's cargo and ground handling busi- nesses and a wide range of com- mercial activities on the ground – from engineering to catering. HH sheikh ahmed bin saeed al maktoum, chairman and chief executive, emirates airline and group, said: "emirates and dnata continue to invest in business growth in tandem with customer demand and global opportunities. as the scale of our operations ex- pands, we are ever more conscious of our responsibility towards the environment and communities we serve. We are aware that our efforts to reduce resource use will not only reduce our environmen- tal impact, but will also help build our business resilience. "When it comes to our environ- mental stewardship, the emirates group has core areas of focus where we believe we can make the biggest impact, but we also know that every little effort counts es- pecially when amplified at global scale. our annual environmental report is a report card, and also a commitment to continuously improve our environmental per- formance." airline operations constitute the main environmental impact of the emirates group. In 2014- 15, emirates continued to add new aircraft to its fleet, retire older aircraft, and prioritise fuel- saving operational techniques. emirates' flight operations specialists worked with agen- cies in countries as far afield as the usa, austria, France, malta, the seychelles, ethiopia, Kenya and Pakistan – as well as Dubai's neighbouring emirate of sharjah – to introduce or validate new performance-based navigation procedures, to help reduce fuel consumption and enhance opera- tional safety. emirates added 24 new aircraft and retired 10 older aircraft in 2014-15, maintaining an average fleet age of 75 months, or about half the industry average of 140 months. Key highlights this year include a continued reduction in aircraft noise emissions, a modest im- provement in overall fleet fuel efficiency despite external opera- tional challenges, and improve- ments in ground vehicle fuel ef- ficiency. all of emirates' aircraft* meet or exceed chapter 4 limits - the most stringent Icao noise standards, and new a380 and Boeing 777 de- liveries during the year helped to further improve the fleet's margin below the chapter 4 limits. emirates' overall fuel efficiency in 2014-15 improved 1% to 0.3057 litres per tonne kilometre, 14% more efficient than the IaTa fleet average fuel efficiency (IaTa WaTs 59th edition). This was despite the impact of airspace clo- sures caused by security concerns in many parts of the world, which led emirates to fly longer routings to avoid these areas. The 80-day runway closure at emirates' hub in Dubai International airport al- so meant that flights had to carry more contingency fuel than usual, thereby impacting fuel efficiency. on the ground, dnata in Dubai took delivery of 30 new electric tractors to replace diesel-powered vehicles for use at Dubai Inter- national airport. The tractors, manufactured by Tug Technolo- gies corporation and charlatte america, produce no air-polluting emissions. a change in the uae govern- ment's regulations also helped to bring down the amount of pollut- ants produced by ground vehicles. The group's ground transport fleet in the uae began using low- sulphur diesel following the gov- ernment's announcement of man- datory new fuel specifications in 2014. The fuel contains 10 parts per million (ppm) of sulphur, a considerable reduction from the previous specification of 500 ppm, and will greatly reduce levels of particulate emissions. *except 2 wet-leased Boeing 747 freighters Johan Styren proudly shows off the EGR Nordics Awards won by LeoVegas Gaming
