The RS Feva is a world leading double-handed sail- ing dinghy with a huge race circuit and recreational following across the globe and which has become a respected benchmark in small sail- boats. Crews, accompanied by Royal Malta Yacht Club Sailing School coaches Daniel Fenech and Milos Wojewski, were towed from the Club to Birzebbugia where they were welcomed by the southern based Club's officials and Race Committee. For some of the crews this was their first racing experi- ence and they were given extra at- tention during Race Briefing to en- sure that they were well versed with the rules and the day's course. The course was held in Pretty Bay, Birzebbugia and was challenging for various reasons. The course was the same for a fleet of Optimist boats having their own marks, it was close to the shore and to a number of buoys which are made use of by private craft for mooring, making it very challenging to manouever that coupled with some tricky wind shifts which required total focus on concentration at all times. Racing over the RMYC crews sailed back to the Club taking this as a perfect opportunity for some extra training in preparation for their forthcoming racing commit- ments. "The RS Fevas are a relatively new Class for us and it was of great satisfaction to see our crews do so well in the Birzebbugia Open Club Series" commented David Anastasi, Rear Commodore (Sailing) Royal Malta Yacht Club. "We are very grateful for the hospitality shown towards our crews by the Birzeb- bugia Sailing Club and we hope to continue co-operating with other clubs to further grow this Class". The Royal Malta Yacht Club is keen to develop the growth of the RS Feva Class and looks forward to work more closely with Birzeb- bugia Sailing Club which already has a number of crews racing in this Class by catering for races for them. The RMYC also hopes that this will lead to possible participation by crews from local clubs in Interna- tional Regattas in the near future.
