maltatoday, SUNDAY, 27 MARCH 2016 II Gaming in Malta House of Cards being sued over popular slot machine €3.7 million Mega Fortune jackpot won LITTLE over a week has passed since the Mega Fortune Dreams jackpot was won for €3.6m and now its sister slot, Mega Fortune, has been taken down for €3,777,948. The win, which occurred over the weekend, is the second giant jackpot win of the year on this slot game. The first on took place at Casumo in January, where a player won €2.6m. Mega Fortune progressive jackpot slot has a theme of wealth and luxury. The reels contain symbols such as speed- boats, diamond rings, gold watches and champagne bottles. To win the jackpot players must enter the bonus round where a bonus wheel will allow you the chance to play for the big won. Smaller jackpot prizes are available, but the 'Mega' jackpot is the one that players are really playing for. A company from Massachu- setts has made moves to sue the producers of the hit TV show House of Cards over their branded slot machine and use of trademark. According to an article on entertainment website TMZ, the Netflix production company, Media Rights Capital, is being sued by a company called D2. Apparently legal documents provide proof that D2 has held the rights to the 'House of Cards' mark for use in any gaming products. The company registered the phrase in 2009 for a radio show of the same name. D2 also obtained the rights to use 'House of Cards' for mar- keting material such as hats, t-shirts and stickers long before the hit Netflix show debuted in 2013. In 2015 Media Rights Capi- tal teamed up with gaming giant IGT to produce two slot machines: 'House of Cards Power and Money' and 'House of Cards Welcome to Washing- ton'. D2 claim that neither com- pany were given permission to use the brand mark, which they claim to own. These particular slot machines have become a huge hit and can be found in casinos throughout the US and some international venues. D2 wants to stop the House of Cards slot machines accept- ing any more bets and are also looking for damages for use of the brand they claim to own the rights to. Enada 2016: BtoBet, the innovative multi-channel model THIS year's Enada 2016 in Rimini offered days of excitement to the Italian gaming industry. It was a trade show that offered an oppor- tunity to new and old operators to attract potential clients to their business. Enada 2016 tes- tified that Italy is moving in the right direction and is starting to base its gaming policies on the international market. Up until recently, the Italian gam- ing market was strictly related to betting shops. The other extreme was to use only the web. However today's reality is changing and Enada 2016 was reflecting this change in mentality. The Italian operators are now shifting from this limited mode of operation to a more open one, which reflects the needs of the current market. Operators are realising that the retail and online business sectors need not be opposing forces. Instead, the operator can have both realities under one roof by shifting his retail bettors to the online medium, taking advantage of having one account that can be ac- cessed from his PC, mobile or tablet. The most forward-looking operators are starting to apply this strategy. BtoBet is the first iGaming software company catering to all those operators that are keen to make this shift to a more holistic approach to gaming. BtoBet has been investing its energy in this concept since 2013, and has finalised a product based on artificial intelligence for both online and retail. BtoBet has three products; B Neuron, B Konnect and B Retail. All products are based on the aforementioned multi- channeling concept. At the centre of every product and at every stage of operation, BtoBet had the bettor or play- er in mind, a concept that is highly useful to the operator. When designing the product, the company kept at the fore- front the fact that a bettor or player must have the option to use his account from different media, including the betting shop, which to most can be the starting point to betting. Having a multi-channeled service allows the operator to create specific and targeted marketing campaigns. Gaming operators participat- ing at Enada were open to getting to know more about this innovative concept. Keep- ing in mind the new direction the Italian market is taking, the bridge between the bet- ting shops and the web is the way forward. BtoBet managed to meet the expectations of the operators interested in getting involved in this inevitable progres- sion in the sector, offering a new route towards more streamlined, multi-channeled operations.
