APRIL 8 Hop Trio! & Ritmi-KA Ensemble project This year, the International Spring Orchestra Festival has teamed up with Education+ to bring three highly-regarded percussionists, forming the Hop Trio, over to Malta once a month for three months to work with two selected colleges. Taking place at Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta at 20:00. With the help of their teachers, the local musicians will transform their experience into a piece to be performed tonight by the ritmi-KA Ensemble (Rhythms – Creative Action). WHAT'S ON TODAY Vivaldi's The Four Seasons Concert in aid of brain research at St Publius Church, Floriana at 19:30. Featuring internationally acclaimed Maltese violinist Carmine Lauri under the direction of Michael Laus. This special performance is being held in aid of brain research and organised by the University of Malta Research Trust (RIDT) in collaboration with the Malta Neuroscience Network. Boris Godunov Live from The Royal Opera House Live screening of the greatest of Russian Operas, Boris Godunov, on Eden Cinemas at 15:00. The acclaimed new production of Musorgsky is conducted by Antonia Pappano, and follows the dramatic rise and fall of the Tsar. Both haunting and political, the opera is a drama of conscience and oppression where the characters are pushed to their very limits. Boris Godunov, performed by the excellent Bryn Terfel, is considered to be one of the greatest and most complex bass-baritone roles, and the monumental score is enhanced by huge choral forces.
