43 Events maltatoday, SUNDAY, 27 MARCH 2016 The UK's number one selling Scotch whisky, The Famous Grouse, is rolling out its new look packaging designed to drive the premium cre- dentials and ambitious long-term development plans for the brand. This investment in packaging follows recent repositioning work undertaken across The Famous Grouse, which is seeing Edrington invest heavily behind the brand. The new pack features a new la- bel design that echoes the brand's roots but with a more contemporary twist. Combined with a new look bottle shape, a more premium clo- sure and metallised paper, the fin- ished pack will deliver real standout for the brand. This premium upgrade comes as Edrington, maker of some of the world's best-loved Scotch whiskies, works on redeveloping the entire Famous Grouse portfolio with sig- nificant changes expected for the extended family range including its smoky expression, The Black Grouse. These changes to the port- folio will also see a permanent line extension at the upper end of the blended whisky range with the launch of a brand new whisky. The character of this new whisky will be distinctly Famous Grouse but with sweeter and more fragrant notes. Glen Gribbon, Director, The Famous Grouse said: "The new packaging has been developed in response to consumer demand for higher quality packaging and will further differentiate the brand from our competitors, setting a new benchmark for others to follow. In our view this design is a modern expression of our key assets: the grouse, and our 'famous' name, and will help us to deliver our ambitious aspirations for the brand over the next few years." The Famous Grouse is imported, marketed and distributed by Far- sons Beverage Imports Company (FBIC) Limited, a member of the Farsons Group. The Famous Grouse reveals premium makeover Banif sponsors top students of new Maltese Literature diploma The University of Malta is accept- ing applications for a new, two- year evening Diploma in Maltese Literature that starts in October 2016. This is a part-time course in Maltese, with lectures on Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The Diploma opens every two years and is being run by the Department of Maltese within the Faculty of Arts of the University of Malta. Banif Bank will be refund- ing the fees (up to a maximum of €2,000), of that student who places first in the course. The diploma focuses on the criti- cal analysis and application of lit- erature in the 21st century and covers areas that are not covered by the BA programme in Maltese. This diploma is being launched at a time when Maltese literature is going through a revival both on the national and on the international scene, one that is spurred by new and creative uses of the Maltese language. "Banif Bank firmly believes in the importance of education, and in promoting local culture and heritage," said Adrian Coppini, Chief Officer Corporate Services at Banif Bank. "What greater heritage is there than our mother tongue? In this increasingly global age, we hope that this Diploma will help shine more light on Maltese Litera- ture – both from a purely academic perspective as well as its applica- tions in contemporary life." The diploma also has the support of the Malta Arts Council. A detailed description of the course and other information is available at www.um.edu.mt/arts/ malti/avvizi/diploma-letteratura, and on Facebook at www.facebook. com/uom.diplittmalt.
