44 Events maltatoday, SUNDAY, 10 APRIL 2016 GS1 Malta enters strategic agreement with Authenticateit GLOBAL protection platform, Authenticateit, has partnered with GS1 Malta to further protect brands from counterfeiting. Authenticateit has made its state of the art, track and trace and con- sumer engagement platform avail- able to all GS1 Malta members following a recent partnership agreement. Global increase of grey import- ing and counterfeiting has result- ed in a growing need for improved operational efficiencies and vis- ibility of supply chains. A member of GS1 Global, GS1 Malta joins GS1 members, - GS1 Singapore, GS1 Australia and GS1 Russia in partnering with global track and trace platform, Authenticateit. Of the partnership, GS1 Malta CEO David Calleja Urry said, "We have been looking for a partner in the traceability and serialisation space for some time now, and feel Authenticateit is a leader in this space. Authenticateit's ability to track even raw materials from the point of sale and beyond, as well as its powerful consumer engage- ment capabilities, made it the logi- cal choice for our organisation. We are proud to introduce this cutting edge technology to our members." Engaging with governments across multiple sectors and loca- tions, GS1 designs and implements global standards and solutions for improved efficiency and visibil- ity of brands' supply chains. GS1 Malta hopes the new partnership will help facilitate its members to leverage GS1 standards for trace- ability, recall and anti-counterfeit deployment. In highlighting the importance of the partnership, Gennady Vol- chek, Authenticateit CEO, said, "GS1 Malta and Authenticateit share a similar vision in aligning industry sectors to global seri- alisation standards. We feel this partnership will improve GS1 Malta's members' supply chain operations, protecting their intel- lectual property and supporting consumer engagement." GS1 Malta will include traceabil- ity and serialisation on their agen- da during a regional meeting for MEMA in November, in addition to further events that GS1 Malta will be participating in throughout the year. YOUR FIRST CLICK OF THE DAY www.maltatoday.com.mt New Porsche brings the race to the street THE new Porsche 911 GT3 RS breaks down the barrier be- tween road-going sports cars and racecars. It is equipped with the maximum amount of motorsport technology that is currently possible in a street- legal 911 suitable for everyday driving. Extensive modifica- tions to its drivetrain, aerody- namics, and lightweight design take performance to an even higher level than the 911 GT3. With a Nuerburgring Nord- schleife lap time of seven min- utes and 20 seconds, the new 911 GT3 RS surpasses the 911 GT3 by five seconds, making it the fastest current genera- tion 911 on the famous German racetrack. Motorsport expertise is the driving force behind this supe- rior performance. The 911 GT3 RS is powered by a four-liter six-cylinder engine developing 500 HP and 460 Nm of torque, combined with a specially de- veloped 7-speed PDK transmis- sion. The engine has the largest displacement and most power of any naturally aspirated en- gine with direct fuel injection in the 911 family, accelerating the high-performance sports car from zero to 100 Km per hour in 3.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 330 Km/hr. Farsons, chef Martin Camilleri host top Piemonte wines dinner FARSONS Beverage Imports Company (FBIC) Limited re- cently teamed up with Chef Mar- tin Camilleri from The Chef in Xemxija to host a Cena Piemon- tese showcasing some great wines from Luciano Sandrone, Elio Al- tare and Fontanafredda. Luciano Sandrone is one of the iconic producers in Barolo and Elio Altare is universally acknowledged to be one of the world's greatest winemakers. Fontanafredda is an historic wine estate founded in the 1800s by Count Emanuele Guerrieri, the natural son of the first King of Italy – Victor Emmanuel II – and Countess Rosa of Mirafiori. Guests started off with Fon- tanafredda's Hundred Fifty Seven Brut, a special anniversary edi- tion brought over specifically for this dinner. Next up was Fontan- afredda's Langhe Arneis, which paired very well with a scallion and wild boar risotto. Elio Al- tare's Dolcetto 2014 astounded everybody with a nice complexity not usually associated with this grape variety. The highly sought-after Barolo Le Vigne 2005 en magnum from Luciano Sandrone was definitely the showstopper. It presented a nose of dark fruits, black cher- ries and dark chocolate. On the palate vanilla, chocolate and cas- sis combined with layers of fruit with a full-bodied mouthfeel and velvety tannins. Luciano San- drone's Barbera d'Alba 2013 was a perfect accompaniment to Chef Martin's cheese selection from the Valle dell'Elvo. The even- ing was then capped off with the pleasant f loral and peach notes of Fontanafredda's Moscato d'Asti. FBIC Ltd, a member of the Far- sons Group, imports and distrib- utes Elio Altare, Luciano San- drone and Fontanafredda wines locally. All are available in select- ed restaurants, wine boutiques and The Wine Shop at Farsons- direct in Mriehel www.farsonsdi- rect.com.
