42 Events maltatoday, SUNDAY, 17 APRIL 2016 TBWA\ANG announces new leadership in Malta and Greece TBWA\ANG, the Communica- tions agency formerly known as Associated News Group, founded by Godfrey Grima in 1971, ap- pointed Julianne Grima as Chair- person at the end of 2015 and more recently welcomed Fiorella Ellul as the new General Manag- er servicing clients in Malta and Greece. TBWA\ANG has invested much time and energy at the start of 2016 to making the necessary for- ward thinking structural changes to shift gear. Welcoming a Female Leadership Team ensures TBWA\ ANG clients that the agency is committed to guaranteeing a di- verse workforce across a range of cultural, gender and age biases. Women's ever increasing partici- pation in the Labour Market has been the biggest engine of global growth and competitiveness. Ju- lianne explains that "You (as an agency) can only truly understand consumer behavior if your team is a realistic representation of your client's customers." Fiorella will assume responsibil- ity for the day-to-day running of TBWA\ANG and provide crea- tive business leadership across the agency's clients. She brings an infectious, electric energy to her firm advocacy of Corporate Social Responsibility and Gender Equality. In this world of fierce compe- tition, brands must evolve con- stantly to stay relevant. TBWA\ ANG provides clear direction by giving clients a sense of increased control. All brands are in a con- stant state of transition and TB- WA\ANG deals with this change by providing innovation to clients' future needs by crafting a lan- guage that is effective and creates emotion. Asked why the agency opted for a Female Leadership Team, Julianne Grima said, "I chose the candidate whose skillset best met the job requirements, working mothers, through experience and observation are often highly ef- ficient and time is always of the essence. We are scrupulous, prag- matic and we run a tight ship, our qualifications and experience are often overshadowed by the fact that we don't linger to shoot the bull. We are the people who buy / use the products and services our clients want to promote, we are the target consumers whispering to target consumers". Anna Borg also confirmed this notion during a recent business breakfast discussing gender bal- ance in senior management, expressing that, "Women con- tribute to over 70% of purchases acquired" In Fiorella's words, "I feel hon- oured joining TBWA\ANG, an organisation with a reputation for business altering ideas, creativity and vision, together with our zeal- ous, results-driven team, I am ea- ger to enhance working relation- ships and embark on the new and exciting challenges that lie ahead." GasanMamo supports Autism Parents Association GASANMAMO Insurance loves to lend a helping-hand in rais- ing awareness of the issues that undercut the community. As part of World Autism Aware- ness Day and in support of the Autism Parents Association (APA), GasanMamo employees took part in a dress down day on 4 April 2016. Employees were encouraged to dress-down and wear something in blue, collect donations, take photos and show their solidarity by posting their photos on social media under the #AutismDay2016. Children with Autism Spec- trum Disorders (ASD) have dif- ficulty interpreting the world around them. Our brains make sense of the things we see, hear, smell, taste, touch and expe- rience. A child with ASD has trouble making sense of these things because their brains have developed differently, and this can make it really difficult for them to talk, listen, understand and play. Founded in 2008 by parents of children diagnosed with ASD, the APA is a non-governmental organisation intended to assist families with children affected by autism, and to raise con- sciousness throughout the local community. "Autism in Malta is on the increase," said Sandra Borg, Founder and Honorary Member of the APA. "GasanMamo's support will surely help us voice-out louder the needs of these children in our fast moving society and at the same time show solidarity towards parents and their fami- lies". "GasanMamo is pleased to stand in solidarity with the fam- ilies of autistic children" said Ju- lian Mamo, Managing Director at GasanMamo. "Our employees recognise the important work that the APA is doing to create understand- ing and acceptance of autism in our community. Participating in World Autism Awareness Day is a way to build a more inclusive society." World Autism Awareness Day falls under the broader "Re- spect, Acceptance, Inclusion" campaign, orchestrated by Au- tism Europe - an international association advancing the rights of people with autism and their families. Numerous activities took place around the world with the light- ing-up of famous monuments in the colour blue, including the Maltese Parliament. Maltco sponsors annual Lourdes pilgrimage MALTCO Lotteries, Malta's nation- al lottery brand, has provided finan- cial support for two local families to take their child with life-threatening conditions to Lourdes to help boost family morale. Maltco contributes to Malta's economy through job creation and investment as well as to social well being through an on-going programme of charitable organisations to help those in need within the community. Through Maltco's financial sup- port the families attending Lourdes may be able to pursue inner peace they did not feel before. The 2 chil- dren along with their parents will make a visit to the Grotto where Our Lady appeared to Bernadette in 1858 and will also participate in the International Mass in the under- ground basilica of St. Pius X which has a capacity for 20,000 pilgrims. Lourdes hosts six million people a year worldwide. Maltco CEO Vasileios Kasiotakis commented, "Serious illness is one of the toughest challenges that any of us can ever face, even more so when it impacts the younger mem- bers of our families. It is an honour to make a contribution to the kind of essential support that helps families through the toughest of times. Our whole ethos for Maltco is to run lot- teries which support projects and those in need in the community. We hope that by helping these families we can contribute to well-being in their family lives and the society." Maltco is a major contributor to the Good Causes Fund with over €8 million unclaimed prizes fund which is returned to the commu- nity over the past 12 years. In addi- tion Maltco provides a helping hand to the local community through its Corporate Social Responsibil- ity, and Responsible Gaming pro- grammes.
