APRIL 25 Violinist Charlie Siem with pianist Julian Dyson World renowned violinist Charlie Siem returns to the Manoel Theatre, Valletta for a recital accompanied by pianist Julian Dyson at 20:00. APRIL 22-24 Opera+ Weekend OPERA Weekend rounds up Gaulitana – A Festival of Music, which runs from Easter Sunday 27 March till the 24 April 2016, featuring a full programme of events in various genres and styles at the Aurora Opera House, Victoria, Gozo at 19:30. The highight of the weekend and of the entire festival will be the full-scale production of Rossini's masterpiece, the opera buffa Il Barbiere di Siviglia, at the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora on April 23. The OPERA Weekend commences on Friday with a solo piano recital by Michael Laus. The Gaudos Violin Duo feature in a lunchtime Wine & Music event at Vini e Capricci on Saturday. Il Barbiere will be preceded by a pre-opera talk at the Aurora Theatre. The Tortorelli-Meluso Duo present a Sunday lunchtime recital, followed by an evening concert by soprano Miriam Cauchi accompanied by a string quintet. Organised in aid of Tomasina cat Sanctuary. EXHIBITIONS APRIL 23-MAY 6 Altered Egos Exhibition of paintings by Gulja Holland at the Malta Maritime Museum, Birgu. The artist's latest series features psychologically charged paintings, drawings and an exciting and dynamic combination of the traditional and digital disciplines of painting and photography resulting in 'photo- paintings'. Such works echo the influence of artists Gerard Richter and Francis Bacon. Curated by Justine Balzan Demajo. APRIL 23-MAY 16 You Are What You Eat Collective exhibition about what food says about our society, at Blitz, St Lucy Street, Valletta. Featuring works by Aaron Bezzina, Sarah Maria Scicluna and Pippin Barr, led by anthropologist Elise Billiard-Pisani. Curated by Alexandra Pace. SEMINARS APRIL 22 Talking Lips Seminar aiming to raise awareness about Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) taking place at Spazju Kreattiv (St James Cavalier), Valletta from 09:00 to 13:00. Organised under the patronage of Health Parliamentary Secretary Dr Chris Fearne and is funded by the Small Initiatives Support Scheme operated by the Malta Council for Voluntary Sector. APRIL 22-24 Khalil Gibran seminar Seminar focusing on the works of the Lebanese poet Khalil Gibran at the Carmelite Priory, Mdina at 19:00. Lectures will be delivered in English by Rev. Dr Charlò Camilleri, O.Carm and Mr Christopher Bezzina. The seminar will focus on three literary works, The Prophet, The Broken Wings and Nymphs of the Valley. An in-depth analysis of these literary works will bind us with Gibran's panoramic compassion for all creation and conjoin with his message for peace and reconciliation.
