The refurbishment included the over- haul of 293 bedrooms, new food and beverage outlets, extended executive lounge facilities, new elevators, as well as new engineer- ing technology to provide more energy efficient operation. Children who participated during the activities organised by the Committee responsible for Christmas and Easter Fes- tivities within the Ministry for Gozo, managed to collect the astounding sum of €12,562.51. This week, the Minister for Gozo Anton Refalo and Maria Farrugia, Chairperson of the said Committee, presented this cheque to Carmel Camilleri, President of the Committee of Puttinu Cares in Gozo. Refalo lauded the work being carried out by the committee headed by Ms Farrugia which has significantly contributed in attracting the huge inf lux of tourists which Gozo has wit- nessed during these festivities. "We wished to manifest our solidarity with those going through a difficult patch, and we chose Puttinu Cares as their sterling work is helping many children during such a turbu- lent phase," Minister Refalo stated. Moreover, he expressed his gratitude towards Leah's parents, Jonathan and Zhana, who, notwithstanding the de- mise of their little daughter, are still supporting Puttinu Cares. A noble gesture indeed. Leah's mother, Zhana Xuer- eb, was present during the presentation, and children hailing from the Ghajnsielem Primary School were awarded their prize in connection with the competition organised dur- ing the Easter festivities.
