maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 18 MAY 2016 17 Events Emirates boosts capacity on Malta service with Boeing 777 EMIRATES is set to enhance its on-board experience and in- crease capacity on its Malta ser- vice with the introduction of a larger Boeing 777-300 aircraft starting from Wednesday, 1 June 2016. The Boeing 777-300 will replace the current Airbus A340-300 used on the route, and offer cus- tomers even more on-board com- fort, entertainment and seats, including an updated inflight entertainment system. The new aircraft has12 lie flat seats in First Class and 42 in Business Class, and due to its bigger size, 310 spa- cious seats in Economy Class. Travellers from Malta to Dubai can look forward to Emirates' award-winning ice entertain- ment system, offering over 2,500 channels of on-demand audio and visual entertainment, from the latest movies, TV shows, mu- sic, audio books and games. Customers will continue to enjoy the famous on-board hos- pitality from Emirates multi-na- tional cabin crew, including Mal- tese nationals, as well as gourmet regionally inspired dishes with complimentary beverages. First and Business Class clients enjoy Emirates' service before they take to the sky with chauf- feur-driven transfers from Malta and Gozo, as well as on arrival at most of Emirates destinations. Other special privileges include dedicated check-in areas, and exclusive access to the Emirates Lounges at major airports, in- cluding Emirates Terminal 3 in Dubai. As with all Emirates flights, passengers will benefit from a generous baggage allowance of 30kg in Economy Class, 40kg in Business Class and 50 kg in First Class. Traders and businesses who im- port and export goods, will also benefit from a larger cargo hold on the Boeing 777 aircraft, offer- ing up to 23 tonnes of capacity per flight. Emirates currently operates daily scheduled flights from Mal- ta, connecting travellers to over 150 destinations in the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, Far East, South Asia, Indian Ocean and Australia/New Zealand via its Dubai hub. EK 749 departs Dubai every Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Fri- day and Saturday at 07:30hrs and arrives in Tunis at 10:50hsr. It will then depart Tunis at 12:30hrs and arrive in Malta at 14:40hrs. The return flight EK 749 leaves Malta at 16:25hr and lands in Dubai at 23:50hrs. Emirates continues its twice weekly flights to Malta via Larn- aca, Cyprus, also on a new Boe- ing 777-300ER aircraft. EK 109 leaves Dubai every Monday and Wednesday at 07:55hrs, arriving in Larnaca at 11:10hrs. It departs Larnaca at 12.20hr and proceeds to Malta arriving here at 14:10hr. The return flight EK110 leaves Malta at 15:30hr, arrives in Lar- naca at 18:55hr, leaving Larnaca at 20:05hrs to land in Dubai at 01:00hrs the following day. Emirates Boeing 777-300 will be operating on Malta route from June 1 RSM survey: Two thirds of UK private equity specialists will vote against Brexit A survey carried out by RSM amongst private equity special- ists has revealed that two thirds are planning to vote to remain in the EU when British voters take to the polling booths on 23 June, with only a fifth saying they would be voting to leave. The survey, carried out among around 100 industry profession- als within the private equity sector, found that around three- quarters (74%) of the respondents said they believed that leaving the EU could result in conditions for private equity deals declining for up to two years, with nearly a quarter (23%) saying this could last for longer than five years. Nearly half of those that took part in the survey (47%) said that free trade agreements with EU countries were most likely to in- f luence the way they voted, with nearly 15% saying red tape and regulatory issues would be the deciding factor. "This survey shows that the concern amongst the UK's pri- vate equity community is real. The impact of Britain remaining or leaving the EU will surely reach beyond its shores and the UK's economy. As one of the most im- portant trading partners for our country, the RSM team in Malta is following developments in the UK very closely. Over 20 members of IELS language school receive length of service award IN celebration of over 10 years of continuous service, IELS Malta presented more than 20 mem- bers of staff with a commemora- tive length of service award. General Manager Alex Lanczet personally thanked each employ- ee for their enthusiasm, profes- sionalism, loyalty and dedication to the company during a special ceremony at the school in Sliema. Lanczet commended the staff 's high level of commitment which is a testimony to the company's investment in career develop- ment as well as its endeavours to ensure an enriching workplace environment. The company awarded com- memorative mementos during the event to all the staff who have been with IELS Malta for over 10 years. The event was attended by all IELS staff, as well as Magister Academy and Day's Inn Hotel employees who form part of the IELS Group. HSBC Malta organises annual Sports and Fun day for staff members and families HSBC bank Malta, through its sports and social activities com- mittee, planned a fun and relax- ing sports day for its employees and their families. The event, which took place at St Margaret College, boys' secondary school Verdala, Cospicua, saw a huge turnout with a myriad of activi- ties going on much to the de- light of both children and adults alike. The classic sack race proved to be a popular choice amongst the younger participants, while adults tried their hand at the archery stand. The more ad- venturous attempted to scale the climbing wall emboldened by the encouragement of those watching. Other activities in- cluded penalty shoot-outs, mini golf, bungee run and gladia- tor combats. Yoga, keep-fit and Kung Fu sessions were also or- ganised throughout the day. No sporting event is complete without an awards ceremony, and true to form the HSBC Sports and Social Activities Committee Ray Cassar and Na- talie Meilak, together with HS- BC Malta CEO, Andrew Beane, and HSBC Malta Head of Com- mercial Banking, Michel Cor- dina, presented a medal to every winner of each category. "It was an excellent experience and great fun to watch partici- pants compete in a friendly set- ting far removed from the office environment. The Sports and Social Activities Committee did an excellent job in the organi- sation," Beane said, during the presentation. "Besides helping promote the benefits of physical activity and wellbeing, sports activities such as these help break down bar- riers between departments and foster a sense of connectivity between employees," Cordina said.
