46 Events maltatoday, SUNDAY, 5 JUNE 2016 First AGM for Malta Properties Company as a listed entity M ALTA Properties Company p.l.c. (MPC) has held its first Annual General Meeting as a publicly listed entity, following its successful spin-off from GO p.l.c. last year. The meeting, which was ad- dressed by Chairman Deepak Padmanabhan, CEO Nikhil Pa- til and CFO Daniela Zammit, reviewed MPC's performance during 2015, when the Company registered pre-tax profits of €1.4 million, based on revenues from rental income of nearly €3.2 mil- lion. Padmanabhan said, "MPC's first set of results give us grounds for optimism. The posi- tive result, coupled with the long term lease agreements on differ- ent properties which we have in place with both GO and Voda- fone, should result in stable rev- enues for the foreseeable future. This stability should stand us in good stead as we look to unlock the value of our entire property portfolio which covers 12 sites that are already valued at more than €54 million." Patil presented sharehold- ers with a review of the ambi- tious redevelopment projects for three specific sites in Zejtun, Marsa and Birkirkara, for which preparatory work is at a very ad- vanced stage. "In 2016, we will see a signifi- cant increase in activity as work begins in earnest on these par- ticular sites. Of course, it will take some time for construc- tion work to be completed but by 2019 we should start to see significant increases in revenue from these properties." Zammit focused on the finan- cial performance and position of MPC for the year ended 31 De- cember 2015. She highlighted the fact that the long-term rental agreements which MPC had in place were providing the necessary stabil- ity and confidence needed for the company to continue its op- erations in line with its plan and strategy. "Malta Properties Company is at the start of its journey," Pad- manabhan said in conclusion. "Strong foundations have been put in place and the Company is truly coming to life with work on a number of projects under- way. We are now completely focused on delivering premium property services to our clients." The company imports the GIOIA banana brand directly from Costa Rica. It is sweeter and has a higher nutrient con- tent than some other bananas due to its source of origin. Bananas are known to boost recovery, increase energy and enhance overall performance. One common training strategy includes a quick energy boosting meal around 90 minutes prior to the physical activity. Bananas are particularly rec- ommended in such situations as they provide a high propor- tion of carbohydrates which are quickly converted to energy, making it an ideal quick energy hit.
