CHI Ltd, a subsidiary of International Hotel Investments (IHI) plc has signed agreements with the UAE-based Meydan Group to provide technical services and to manage a luxury beachfront resort being constructed in Dubai. The hotel will be known as the Corinthia at Meydan Beach. "We are immensely proud of our association with Meydan and of our first Corinthia Hotel in Dubai. The energy, vision and quality of resources assembled for this project by Meydan, and now including Corinthia, will ensure this will be another landmark milestone for us, and for Dubai," Corinthia chairman Alfred Pisani said. Meydan board director Mohammed Al Shehhi expressed the group's enthusiasm in working with Corinthia. "We are very happy to have appointed Corinthia to operate our new luxury hotel under construction at Meydan Beach. Our core business is the global management of horse racing, as well as large scale mixed use real estate developments in Dubai. With Corinthia as our hospitality partner, we continue to complement our array of capabilities in ensuring world class delivery of products and services, with our flagship beachside development as a starting point," Al Shehhi said. According to Arabian Business, Meydan Group is building a five-star hotel on Dubai's Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), to replace a beach club the same developer shut down in 2014. The Meydan Beach Hotel will comprise 260 rooms, including 60 high-end serviced apartments. Preliminary construction work including shoring and piling has begun and the development is expected to be complete within three years, by the start of 2019. The beach hotel will be located next to the Ritz-Carlton and opposite to the Mövenpick hotel in JBR. The development features a stepped podium wrapping around lavish, landscaped pools and gardens cascading onto the beach, and offers extensive indoor and outdoor leisure and dining facilities, a luxury apa, a club and banqueting amenities. A 55-storey tower comprising residential apartments, bedrooms, suites and entertainment zones will sit atop one side of the podium, commanding views of some of the most spectacular sights in Dubai, including the Palm Island and the Dubai Eye under development across the waters. Internationally-renowned American design professionals AE7, who have over 40 years' experience in the Middle East, are the appointed architects and designers. According to constructionw eekonline.com, the Meydan Group is also developing the Meydan One, featuring a 711m-high tower, a huge new mall, the world's largest indoor ski slope, a 25,000 sqm indoor sports facility, the biggest dancing fountains in the world, a beach and a civic plaza capable of hosting up to 60,000 people. APS Bank to host public lecture on 'managing a turnaround' APS Bank in collabora- tion with the Faculty of Economics Management and Accountancy at the University of Malta will be hosting a public lecture about the skills needed to manage a turnaround in business on Wednesday, 8 June at the Le Meridien St Julian's Hotel & Spa. For more information and registration contact info@apsbank.com.mt. 2,000 additional October fl ights by Ryanair Ryanair on Monday added almost 2,000 extra fl ights across its Euro- pean network for the October holi- days, with almost 350,000 addition- al seats now on sale on the airline's website. Maltese customers and visitors can choose from 10 additional flights for travel in October on five routes, as part of Ryanair's reinforced Malta schedule. The extra flights fall under Ryanair's "Always Getting Better" programme, which includes more new routes, new digital features, new cabin interiors and more low fares.
