21 Sport maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 15 JUNE 2016 FOOTBALL Zlatan to have Man Utd medical Manchester United are making plans for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to undertake a medical in Manchester after Euro 2016 - the last remaining hurdle which must be overcome before he signs a one-year contract at Old Trafford NEGOTIATIONS between the player's representative and the club took longer than initially expected, meaning there was not enough time for the Sweden striker to conduct his medical before the tournament began. However, both sides are un- derstood to be relaxed about the situation, with the deal in place and ready to be signed later this summer, upon completion of his medical tests. Personal terms have already been agreed on a one-year con- tract, after negotiations between Ibrahimovic's agent Mino Raiola and Manchester United execu- tive vice-chairman Ed Wood- ward took place in recent weeks. The club and the player initial- ly hoped to be able to conclude a deal before the European Cham- pionship began, however talks were not concluded in time for Ibrahimovic to conduct a medi- cal in England before travel- ling to France with the national team. Ibrahimovic won his 114th cap for Sweden in Monday's 1-1 draw against the Republic of Ireland at the Stade de France in Paris. Disqualification threat for Russia THE Russian Football Union (RFU) were charged in relation to offences of crowd disturbances, use of fireworks and racist behav- iour inside the Stade Velodrome on Saturday. UEFA's control, ethics and dis- ciplinary body met in Paris to consider the case and imposed the suspended disqualification and a financial penalty. However, any further incidents of crowd disturbance inside grounds at Russia's matches dur- ing the European Championships will see the suspension lifted and the country thrown out of Euro 2016. The sanctions against the RFU were outlined in a statement by the independent control, ethics and disciplinary body, in which it confirmed: "A suspended dis- qualification of the Russian na- tional team from UEFA EURO 2016 for the crowd disturbances. "In accordance with Article 20 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regu- lations this disqualification is suspended until the end of the tournament. "Such suspension will be lifted if incidents of a similar nature (crowd disturbances) happen in- side the stadium at any of the re- maining matches of the Russian team during the tournament." The decision only relates to in- cidents which occurred inside the stadium and are therefore under the jurisdict Zlatan Ibrahimovic
