43 Events maltatoday, SUNDAY, 19 JUNE 2016 Enhancements on Emirates services to Melbourne PASSENGERS travelling to Mel- bourne, Australia will now have another direct flight option with Emirates announcing that flights EK408 and EK409 will begin op- erating as nonstop services from Dubai from 30 October 2016. Operated by an Emirates B777- 300ER aircraft, EK408 will de- part Dubai at 03:00hrs and arrive in Melbourne (MEL) at 23:20hrs. The return flight, EK409, will leave Melbourne at 06:00hrs and land in Dubai (DXB) at 13:05hrs. The current service from Dubai to Melbourne operates via Kuala Lumpur (KUL) in both direc- tions. These flight changes will save passengers approximately two and half hours in travel time in each direction when travelling between Dubai and Melbourne on these services. Emirates offers a total of four daily flights from Dubai to Mel- bourne with codeshare partner Qantas, including three services operated by an A380 aircraft and one flight on an Emirates B777- 300ER. With this change, from 30 October 2016, these four daily services will include two daily nonstop flights to Melbourne from Dubai on Emirates and one flight on Qantas aircraft, as well as one daily Emirates flight to Melbourne from Dubai that op- erates via Singapore. Together, Emirates and Qantas operate 91 flights per week to Australia from Dubai. Of these 91 flights, 77 of these are Emir- ates services, which operate to and from Brisbane, Perth, Mel- bourne, Adelaide and Sydney, including six daily A380 flights. From 30 October 2016, passen- gers travelling to Malaysia will continue to be able travel to the country on Emirates' three daily flights to Kuala Lumpur from Dubai, two of which operate on Emirates 777-300ER and one an A380. Emirates is currently working with travel agents and tour operators regarding alter- native travel plans for passengers booked for travel to Kuala Lum- pur on the EK408 or EK409 ser- vices after 30 October 2016. Emirates operates daily sched- uled flights between Malta and Dubai. Emirates flies twice weekly to Malta, on Mondays and Wednesdays, via Larnaca in Cyprus, and on Sundays, Tues- days, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays the airline operates the Dubai - Malta route on a cir- cular routing via Tunis in Tuni- sia. The return flight flies direct from Malta to Dubai. Emirates flights EK408 and EK409 will operate as nonstop services between Dubai and Melbourne from 30 October 2016 GasanMamo employees have a ball at their annual sports day ON a sunny and breezy day, a total of 64 employees from GasanMamo Insurance teamed up to partici- pate for their annual sports day on Sunday 24th April at San Andrea School in Mġarr. Eight different teams battled it out against each other in the different activities, including the 100 and 800 metre run, tug of war, relay race, potato race, sack race, three leg- ged race, basketball free shots, shot put, high jump, long jump, discus and penalty shootout amongst oth- ers. The participants were cheered on by their families, friends and other employees, with the winners turning out to be the Purple Team made up of Airell Costantino, Luke Cauchi, Matthew Cumbo, Carlene Bugeja and Diana Mifsud. The GasanMamo Sports Day was organised by the GasanMamo Social Activities committee and turned out to be a fun filled day for all those who attended and par- ticipated. Tosca Restaurant earns 2016 Tripadvisor certificate of excellence TOSCA Restaurant today an- nounced that it has received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excel- lence. Now in its sixth year, the achievement celebrates hospital- ity businesses that have earned great traveller reviews on Tri- pAdvisor over the past year. Cer- tificate of Excellence recipients include accommodations, eater- ies and attractions located all over the world that have continu- ally delivered a quality customer experience. The Certificate of Excellence accounts for the quality, quan- tity and how recently the reviews have been submitted by travellers on TripAdvisor over a 12-month period. To qualify, a business must maintain an overall Tri- pAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months. €375 worth of MasterCard prepaid cards for new BOV credit card holders BANK of Valletta has just an- nounced a new campaign for new BOV credit card holders. Custom- ers taking up a new credit card from the Bank's suite of Master- Card and Visa credit cards until the 31st August are automatically eligible to win a BOV MasterCard Prepaid Card set worth EUR375. Speaking about the initiative, Michael Galea, Chief Electronic Banking Services Officer ex- plained, "Credit cards offer sever- al benefits over cash and cheques, including convenience, versatility and peace of mind, to mention a few. We are witnessing a shift in the number of customers who are opting for cards as their preferred method of payment, both for retail purchases as well as online. The Bank is also investing in ancil- lary services for credit card hold- ers. Case in point is the BOV 3D Secure, which provides an added level of security, completely free of charge, when paying for online shopping with a BOV card." The BOV Cards Summer cam- paign will consist of two draws, one held on the 16th August fol- lowed by a second draw on the 16th September. Five names will be drawn in each draw. The card- holders whose name is drawn will be contacted by a BOV represent- ative and asked a skill based ques- tion. If the correct answer is pro- vided, the winner will take home the latest edition of four BOV MasterCard prepaid cards featur- ing birds of prey occurring on the Maltese islands.
