45 Events maltatoday, SUNDAY, 19 JUNE 2016 Malta internet pioneer is new Ozone general manager OZONE has appointed Chris- tian Ransley as general man- ager. Christian has worked in the IT industry for the past 19 years in both technical and managerial roles. In 1997, whilst reading for his degree in Business and Com- puting (Graduated in 2001), Christian founded Fastnet Ltd., an Internet Service Pro- vider (ISP) company, in which, apart from being Managing Director he handled all techni- cal aspects of the business. In 2002 he sold the business to Key world Ltd. and was em- ployed by the same company with the designation of Tech- nical Manager. In this role he was responsible for all tech- nical aspects of the business which varied from internet access services (dial-up & AD- SL), to other internet related services (hosting, email, fax- to-email), software develop- ment and later, in 2003 Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services (Calling Cards, VoIP telephony, Virtual PBX solu- tions). In 2004 he was promoted to General Manager of Key world Ltd where he remained un- til, in September of 2006, he joined Solutions & Infrastruc- ture Services Ltd. (SIS) in the role of Chief Operating Officer for Information & Communi- cation Technology. SIS was a joint venture be- tween Midi plc and Siemens spa. Working in a joint venture with Siemens (Italy) allowed Christian to work in a multi- cultural environment and to deal with customers from sev- eral countries, including Italy, France, Greece, Libya and the United Kingdom. Working in telecommunica- tions, a highly competitive and innovative sector, it has been of utmost importance to keep to the forefront of technology. In his role at SIS, he setup the island's first Carrier Neutral Datacentre as well as the first Carrier Grade VoIP telco op- eration in Malta offering se- cure and encrypted telephony and data services never before possible. Christian has handled infra- structural projects from small multi-site retail businesses to large scale infrastructural and data projects. He has overseen the creation of the IT infra- structure for the Tignè Point geographical area that includ- ed technologies such as fibre, microwave, Wi-Fi and free space optics, and also the lay- ing of a submarine fibre cable across the bay and the creation of wireless broadband infra- structure over several geo- graphical areas. He has commissioned data- centres and data rooms both for the companies he has worked for in the past, as well as for their customers. He has installed and commissioned infrastructures for third par- ties such as The Point shop- ping mall, the Courts of Malta, the Gozo Hospital, Ggantija Temples and St. Paul's Cata- combs covering services for data, VoIP, Wi-Fi, CCTV and access control. Christian has now joined Ozone as General manager to strengthen Ozone's position in the enterprise market and expand further into Managed data solutions, IP services and other potential areas of growth. OzoGroup part of London Stock Exchange's top 1,000 THE London Stock Exchange has produced a landmark research re- port identifying 1,000 of Europe's high growth SMEs and OzoGroup was handpicked by The London Stock Exchange as one of 1,000 companies from 23 million small and medium sized companies to In- spire Europe and the only Maltese company that was included in this report. The report "1,000 Companies to Inspire Europe" was launched on the 15th June 2016 at a major event at the European Parliament in Brus- sels in the presence of Commis- sioner Hill, several MEPs including Maltese MEP Alfred Sant. The publication looks at the wider economy, focusing on the opportu- nities and challenges facing Euro- pean companies and exploring the sectors and trends that will shape the future economic success of Eu- rope. The research identified 1,000 fast growth companies that have not only grown their revenue but also out-performed their industry peers. As well as being listed in an in- dex, the 160-page report features OzoGroup in detail, highlight- ing OzoGroup's success story and also includes an interview with the chairman Mario Muscat regarding the company's philosophy, path to success and vision for the future. In this report Mr Muscat tells his story of how he developed a business, that today employs over 1200 employ- ees that started 20 years ago from a humble beginning, the report is a testimony of growth, hard work and believing in one's dreams. OzoGroup CEO Fabio Muscat and group chairman Mario Muscat together with Maltese MEP Alfred Sant Nestlé's 150-year history on canvas SIX MCAST students from the Art and Design Institute spent the morning of 21st May interpreting Nestlé's 150-year history live, via a painting on a canvas. The event formed part of the Nesquik Marine Festival which was held at the Malta National Aquarium and was organ- ised by Nestle' Malta. The canvas portrayed three main aspects of Nestlé's rich history in- cluding its origins, the Brands this company encompasses and the Wellness aspect which Nestlè em- phasizes so much upon. Once com- plete the artwork will be put on ex- hibit at the Nestlé premises in Lija. Ms. Moyra Felice, Acting Deputy Director-Programme Management Technical College, Institute for the Creative Arts said that: "The stu- dents and all those involved were very passionate about this project and this will be a feather in their cap. Events like these, will continue to encourage the students' active participation in similar educational projects with industry, which was a wonderfully positive experience for our students." At the end of the event each stu- dent was presented with a certifi- cate of participation in recognition of their work by Alfred J Borg, Nestlé Malta's Marketing & Cor- porate Communications Manager. Mr Borg thanked the students for their participation, for their inspi- ration and design in representing the core values of Nestlé and com- mended them for a wonderful work of art. Christian Ransley
