The AX Holdings Group came to life in 1975 when its founder and chairman Angelo Xuereb embarked on a very long journey that has lasted 40 years to date and is still going strong. This is the amazing journey of a successful entre- preneur who started off with a small two man business and turned it into a multi sector magnetic empire, now em- ploying an entourage of well over 700 people. Mr. Xuereb has always had his heart set on the construction business and this sector was the key contributor leading to huge growth and expansion in other sectors. The AX construction division today is in the hands of Mr. Xuereb's daughter Denise Xuereb. Having worked closely with her father over the past few years, she is handling this sector very efficiently and with high quality standards AX Holdings is one of Malta's leading private companies giving a major and direct contribution to the national economy. However one has to bear in mind that the Stivala family has been operating in the construction business for more than 37 years through various companies. How has the industry changed over the years for you as one of Malta`s leading and established contractors? Like any other industry, the construction industry changes and evolves all the time depends on the change in the customer's needs. These tend to vary a lot from one year to another. How has this affected the operation for you as well as for the clients? Since our clients are be- coming more quality oriented, our daily challenges are becoming harder to achieve but as a company we always strive the meet the client's expectations. What do you think about the future of the industry in Malta? There is a bright future for the construction industry on this beautiful island. The only thing that can secure our future in this business is that we keep providing a high end product with an outstanding sterling service. If you could change one thing about the industry what would it be and why? The only negative aspect that we have to face on a daily basis in our industry is that departments are still very bureaucratic and this will affect our time frames which will cost us a lot of time and money What advice would you give to consumers seeking properties? The clients are to have a good look at what's available on the market before making their final decision. The only advice we give to the custom- ers is that one is to consider the whole package and not only the price. Quality and service are the most impor- tant aspects in our product. Don't decide only on price but also on quality! The drive to move on and ahead stems from the philosophy that change generates progress Angelo Xuereb and daughter Denise
