40 Events maltatoday, SUNDAY, 24 JULY 2016 Benna launches lactose-free fresh milk and light yoghurt IN its commitment to ensure that its Benna fresh milk and Benna fresh milk products can be enjoyed by everyone, Malta Dairy Products Ltd launched lactose-free fresh milk and lac- tose-free light yoghurt. Benna Fresh Lactose Free Milk starts off as regular cows' milk. People with lactose in- tolerance don't have enough lactase enzymes in their bod- ies to digest lactose, the natural sugar found in milk. To solve this problem, lactase enzyme is added to the fresh milk to break down the lactose into simpler forms, glucose and galactose, both of which are easily absorbed in the human digestive system. As nothing else is added or removed, what one gets is de- licious fresh lactose-free milk, that has all the taste and nutri- tious goodness of regular fresh milk, just without the lactose. All the milk used in the pro- duction of lactose-free milk, as in all other Benna products, is 100% real fresh Maltese milk, making this product the first of its kind in the Maltese Islands. Lactose-intolerant people or those with sensitive digestive tracts who up till now have had to refrain from consuming fresh milk, thus missing out on its nutritious benefits, now don't need to say no anymore. Fresh milk can once again be an integral part of their healthy daily lifestyle since lactose free Benna fresh milk, found in con- venient 1ltr cartons with screw cap, causes no discomfort. Even better, lactose intolerant people can now also enjoy Ben- na Lactose Free Light Yogurt sold in a convenient 2-pack car- ton in three different f lavours; strawberry, vanilla and natural. As in lactose-free milk, these yoghurts have all the taste and nutritious goodness of a fresh dairy product, just without the lactose. The availability of Benna lactose-free fresh milk and yoghurts will also give lactose intolerant people access to any recipe that includes milk or yo- gurt, by simply substituting the standard fresh milk and yogurt with the lactose-free fresh milk and lactose free yogurt. The lactose-free range of products is now available na- tionwide at all major retail outlets, distributed fresh every day. GO employees volunteer at Richmond Foundation's K.I.Ds GO employees recently complet- ed the refurbishment of the play room and therapy rooms at the premises of Kids in Development (K.I.Ds), a residential programme run by Richmond Foundation, for children who have been severely affected by early trauma or seri- ous disruption in their lives. The initiative was organized by the GO Cares team who manage the GO Cares Employee Fund which is financed by employees' donations. Stephania Dimech Sant, Chief Executive Officer at Richmond Foundation, said, "The experi- ences which the children we care for have gone through result in se- rious attachment disorders which affect relationship forming. Our objective is to give every child a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment to deal with their past traumas and to work towards a positive permanent solution to their situation. The costs of care are very high and this means that we rarely have the funds for much needed upgrades to the physical environment, so the support of GO employees is very much ap- preciated." Following the completion of the refurbishment works, GO Cares committee members and a small representation of employees who helped in this project, visited the K.I.Ds premises to present a num- ber of gifts to the children and their carers. These included soft toys, arts and crafts materials, as well as tablets and laptops sponsored by the Company. Josephine Grima from the GO Cares Employee Fund, said, "It was a pleasure for us to collabo- rate with The Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation on this initiative. When you hear some of the things that these chil- dren have had to go through, it leaves you heartbroken. However, thanks to Richmond Foundation and its K.I.Ds programme, these youngsters have the chance to move forward with their life." "The purpose of the GO Cares Employee Fund is specifically to help those in need and I would like to thank all the GO employ- ees who helped not only finan- cially but also volunteered some hours of their personal time to be able to give these children a better home," she said. The GO Cares Employee Fund is an initiative through which GO employees voluntarily do- nate a small contribution from their salary on a monthly basis. GO employees are able to support various worthy causes by organis- ing different activities during the year and making use of donations made through this Employee Fund.
