maltatoday, SUNDAY, 4 SEPTEMBER 2016 This Week 33 WHAT'S ON Underworld Rock opera inspired by Maltese folk tale monsters at Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta at 20:00. Set in the darkest of times, when Turks pillaged and looted the Maltese islands, our story revolves around the Inguanez family and their three children: Lucia, Maria and Tinu. Lucia, the eldest, is betrothed to a young noble, Mikiel, despite being secretly in love with Ġamri, the baker's son, and the Inguanez family is confronted with a peculiar love triangle. Disaster strikes when the two younger children go missing, pulled down a well by Belliegħa, who is bored of her dull, monotonous life. Maria and Tinu find themselves in the underworld, home of forgotten mythical Maltese creatures, such as Babaw, Sarangu and Saħħar. Secrets come to light and the promise of hope returns, but the search for the children causes imbalance and shatters the barriers between the two worlds. Organised by DLS Productions. Emvin Cremona Exhibition of stamp designs by Malta's most renowned artist in the genre at the newly-opened Malta Postal Museum at Archbishop Street, Valletta. Opening hours: Monday to Friday 10:00 to 16:00; Saturday 10:00 to 14:00. SEPTEMBER 25 Untitled (Ix-Xemx) Pop-up exhibition by FRAGMENTA at St Thomas Bay, Marsascala from 17:00. Artist Sandra Banthorpe invites visitors to the poetic site-specific installation on the venue. According to calculations, the sun will set at 18:55 on September 25 after a day of 12h 1:35min length. Astronomical Twilight ends at 20:19 but Civil Twilight already at 19:19. FILM SCREENING SEPTEMBER 9, 11, 23 Hieronymus Bosch: Touched by the Devil Documentary about the timeless Dutch painter Hieronymous Bosch, delving into some controversies about the authenticity of certain pieces purporting to be the master's original work. Luvvies test their mettle with the One-Act Play Festival THE MADC will once again be showcasing fresh talent at its annual One-Act Play Festival from September 8 to 11. Taking place at its intimate playhouse in Sta Venera at 19:30 on each of the nights, the event will fea- ture four short plays staged by emerging theatrical talents on the island. The plays for this year's edition are: 'The Price To Be Paid' (di- rected by Gianni Grioli), 'Family 2.0' (directed by Benedek Forro), '22 Minutes' (directed by Joe De- pasquale) and 'He Said And She Said' (directed by Keith Joseph Barbara). A final award ceremony will determine the winners in vari- ous categories, and will be held on Sunday night. The MADC One Act Play Fes- tival was established in 1979 and is a very important feature of the Club's seasonal activities. The Festival gives aspiring young actors and directors the oppor- tunity to show their talents to a live audience in a competitive club atmosphere. In fact, many of Malta's now leading actors and directors made their stage debut in MADC's One Act Play Festival.
